Movies: Poor Things, Barbie and Oppenheimer are stuck in La La Land

Sinners is on hbo max now

Make sure to watch the coda after the credits- actually a very important scene that will get cut off for many the way max minimizes screens during credits
 
Sinners was the best movie I have seen in quite some time. I am so glad I saw it in the theaters.
 
Today I discovered Sol in Pi is Hector Salamanca in Better Call Saul (Mark Margolis). That is unbelievably weird and absolutely reasonable.
 
I'll be curious to see how the new Superman movie does at the box office. I thought it was really good and it was as woke as The Marvels movie but obviously way better as a film. So, will the anti-woke crowd kill this one because it is woke just like The Marvels? Or was it just The Marvels was bad? Or was it just that the Marvels was female?

If they want to be consistent in their bullshit Superman should not make money.

They didn’t go to the Marvels because 1) they’re all women, and 2) 2/3 of the main cast aren’t white. It’s also a bad movie, but it was doomed before that tidbit was known.

As I understand it, Superman is called out as being an illegal alien. I’ve not yet seen the movie, but I’m expecting a good one.

Well, I was using The Marvels as an extreme example. The overarching theme is they are sick and tired of woke themes in their Superhero movies even though woke themes were what the comics were often about all throughout history.

This Superman is woke. They should be boycotting it.

I can't speak to Marvels but I dont know anyone that thought that was a good movie. It would have struggled regardless.

I have seen Superman twice. I get why they will hate it but that is also why it will do well. I mean my SO is still beaming about it and she is not a Superman fan normally. (or a cbm family outside of X Men)

Considering Paramount is already talking about firing Colbert and Stewart because woke, I wouldn’t be too sure about that.

That's different. Paramount wants to merge with Skydance and dont want Trump's DOJ to block it. They bribed him to prevent it.

People still watch those shows and Star Trek...those "boycotts" failed. That is what we are talking about.

It doesn’t matter how they win, it matters if they win.

If Star Trek gets nerfed because some corporate executives wanted to please Dump, the boycotts still worked.

No they didn't. People will stop watching and they will be canceled. Paramount/Skydance lose. No one else does. Hell I am not even sure they actually did boycott I was being hypothetical because of the question Scooby asked. They mentioned it once last year that I remember. If Paramount didn't make a bad decision no one would even know the cons cared.

(in reality though most of the shows are done anyways)

Getting rid of Colbert and Stewart would be so costly I actually kind of hope they do it. Well mostly Colbert I dont think Stewart has much value anymore everyone else on TDS is way more relevant and funny than him.

See the issue is Paramount is broke and unlike say WB they have no real way out of it. The merger keeps them alive but it also kills the majority of their viewer base. (people are already canceling Paramount+ because they know they bribed Trump) So in the end they will just be another MGM...bought out by a big conglomerate that will ruin them. Paramount killed itself about 5 years ago and then kept flogging the dead body.
 
I disagree on both counts. Same lame jokes he made 20 years ago (oh look...he deadpanned to the screen!!) and now he barely speaks as a liberal.

Sorry he just passed his sell by date years ago. His Apple Show was better.
