Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

The studio has sent out notice that if reviewers don't like Patriots Day they're Boston Wicked Weak.

NYC: 3000 deaths. Yawns, goes back to work the next week.

Boston: 3 deaths. Will still be mewling "look at me!!!" a century from now.

That's just typical Mass-hole behavior. Always have had an inflated sense of self-worth.

Only read this if you never want to see Passengers, i.e., if you have seen the trailer for Passengers which is quite enough to make you realize neither you nor anyone outside of a Hollywood pitch meeting will ever want to see it.

Yes, that bad.

It'll do big box office its first week because the guys will be dragged to the theater to placate their girlfriends and wives due to the two main stars in it. Sorry fools.

Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

I really despise Bobby Fingers' posts. They are horrible and this was no exception.

Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

Denial. A true story about a US university professor in the 90s who was sued for libel by British WW II historian David Irving for accusing him of being a Holocaust denier. In British court the burden for this suit is on her to prove she is innocent not the other way around. Some very good performances from Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall and Andrew Scott.

It sounds worse than bad. Here is the cliff notes version, in white: a wannabe-rapist tries to woo his intended rape victim, and somehow she ultimately consents

I laughed out loud the first time I saw that trailer...holy crap does that look bad.

Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

I went to see Rogue One again tonight. It's still really good. This time I accidentally bought tickets to the 3D screening, which was my first time ever in a 3D theater. For the most part the 3D aspect was enjoyable, but there were a few laser bursts and explosions that strained my eyes a bit so I had to look away. That never happened in the 2D viewing.

Gonna see it Mon morn, since I have the day off. Get an early showing, avoid any crowds due to Christmas hangovers. I hate dealing with crowds.

Yes!

Blade Runner, Alien Covenant, Silence and SW VIII is n 2017. Looks like a great year!

Meh. I can't wait for Goon 2. ;)

More seriously Dunkirk, Birth of the Dragon and Renegades look good. Bastards looks horrible. Why Him could be fun as well as Bedeviled.

Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

the theater was about half-full tonight.

The last 3-4 movies I saw in theater.....10 people max. Heck, that last Star Wars movie, opening weekend, Fri morn, had 3 others in the theater. 10am showing or so, but still......

Perfect.

Goon 2😈

I forgot about Dunkirk. I'm all in on WWII movies. An interesting move for Chris Nolan here.

Perfect.

When we saw Arrival there were ten other people in the theater. More importantly, we were the youngest.

The kids are finding other things to do.

Re: MOVIES: New Ideas Welcome!

Watched Don Cheadle's Miles Davis flick today, Miles Ahead. Not gonna say it's brilliant or anything, and I don't know enough about Miles Davis to seriously critique it, but it was a fun watch. Cheadle described it as being a film about a sort of caper that Miles could have gotten himself involved in, and I can see that. And the music's fun too.
