Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

I like Fantastic Four better than the comics it derives from. Reed Richards is a horrid unreadable character.

Glad you liked Spidey Scoobs...I have zero interest in it (unless my buddy wants me to come along) but Spidey fans need a win from what I can tell after the mess that was ASM2. (never saw the Garfield Films)

Well, go see it anyway, cause it's fun. It's just fun. Which is a new thing for Spiderman.

We will see...next movie I am looking forward to is War For The Planet of the Apes :)

I remember how much you hated the last Spidey series

Yeah, this is one is so much better. Although, admittedly, at this point a lot of things that would have bothered me don't in this one because Spidey has already Jumped The Shark in film. If this was the first film ever of Spiderman I would've been very angry. But this film is all about the MCU and Spiderman just being a great piece of it. As a standalone Spiderman franchise there are a few things you could go nuts about.

Atomic Blonde. I can't wait.

And the Spiderman post credit scene is epic. That's all I'll say. It's worth the price of admission.

That it was. Did you see both of them?

Also Aunt May's last line was awesome and made everyone in the theater crack-up.

Okay, I just bought a ticket for the 7:00PM show. Getting the Marcus Ultra Screen viewing - really big screen and a full recliner with leg rest setup.

American Anarchist:

Interview with the guy who wrote the "American Anarchist's Cookbook" and how he feels about the book now. Rather blunt questions, and blunt answers. Complex issue to talk about, for sure, as it influenced many a tragedy in US history.....

Dont believe it...the story hasnt been written yet (Patty Jenkins hasnt even signed to direct it either though she is going to) and Jenkins is on record as wanting to do a story in the modern day. Plus the 80s makes zero sense.

Screenrant is a low rent clickbait site and The Wrap is about 50/50 depending who is breaking the news. Dont trust any rumor unless it comes from Variety, The Hollywood Reporter or Deadline.

OK, thanks.

Many bombings, Columbine, other shootings.....the book was found in the suspects' dwellings, due to the information in it. It has been put on the internet in various forms over the years, etc. Who really knows if the techniques would have been found out by the suspects if the original book never existed? (personally, I think the info would have been found out eventually, with some work, but I digress).

For the sake of argument, what if the book was never written (or banned from publication)? Could those suspects have done what they did in that "efficient" of a fashion? WOULD they have done what they did, if they had to actually dig deep to find that information on bombs/evasive techniques/altering weapons/etc? It's some of the things covered in the interview.

Smoke And Mirrors:

Ex-Spanish CIA equivalent gets burned by the organization, so he decides to con them out of money. Fiction intertwined with a true story about an official who DID embezzle a ton of money. Decent con-man story with many levels of deception.

I.T.

Disgruntled fired IT worker decides to make his former boss' "smart-house" work against him, amongst other things. Basic "new friend/employee is really a creepy maniac" story. Meh. Was fun until the end, then the end is all the cliches.

Very interesting. OK.

Taking Lives:

Angie Jolie plays an FBI profiler who helps out Canadian cops try to find a serial killer; only has one witness. To believe him or not? It was ok. A couple red herrings tossed into some twists and turns, but the ending was rather predictable. Worth it if you have some time to kill.

I would have sworn I knew Blade Runner by heart, but the soundtrack includes the song "One More Kiss, Dear" and I have no idea where it is used. Cutting room floor, half second reference, or whazzit?
