Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

Ten Things I Hate About You is Taming of the Shrew set in late 1990s/early 2000s California rather than 1690s/1700s Italy.

Another guilty pleasure. That, and Drive Me Crazy, starring Vinnie Chase.

I just don't like movies of that era. I like 90s and beyond.

Take Ten Things, a movie that will likely be looked down on by most kids under 30 and over 40. It's a great movie.
Ten Things I Hate About You is great. The only annoying part was it was filmed in Tacoma and, when I lived there at least, you could immediately tell who went to Stadium HS because they always responded with "that's where they filmed Ten Things I Hate About You!"

:p

I get your point, but I like how all of the actors involved managed to play that sudsy crap straight. And, well, the two main characters were from Mt. Brighton, MI. So, it's a soft spot film for me.

Dont get me wrong...I still enjoy the hell out of it!

Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

It is time to remake Ski Patrol. I'll cut any b-tch who talks that movie down.

HELL YEAH!!

Paul Feig could direct it...since he was in the original. (he was Stanley the nerd who could dance!)

Holy crap Sean Sullivan is in that flick...**** Greyeagle gets around. (GPL people get it)'

Plus Martin Mull and George Lopez...awesome!

Ski School works because of Dean Cameron, which is why Summer School is the best stupid teen comedy of all time! Plus Courtney Thorne Smith and Kirstie Alley!

The DiCaprio version? That wasn't a bad movie. It was actually a decent movie.

It sucked.

The Eagle Huntress:

Mongolian girl bucks tradition and attempts to train eagles. Traditionally, the practice is handed from father to son.

This documentary is beautifully shot. It's flat out majestic. Good story, too. Highly recommend.

I'm just saying that you really have to **** up a movie for it to be bad when you're just updating a Shakespeare play.

I don't see how being from Shakespeare's pen makes it an infallible movie.

I disagree. As do most critics.

I disagree. As do most critics.

And Dances With Wolves was supposedly better than Goodfellas. ;)

I don't pay much attention to critics.

Honestly, I thought Romeo Must Die, while not great, was at least a more entertaining version of Romeo And Juliet.

Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

Phew. I thought he was talking about the Zefferelli version, which I love.

We liked it in high school because we got to see two seconds of Juliet nipple. Of course, to see that, we had to sit through an entire minute of Romeo butt.

What else falls into that category? Tommy Boy? American Pie? 40-year Old Virgin? Anchorman? Super Troopers? Clerks? Harold & Kumar GTWC? Top Secret? Better Off Dead?

40YO? No. Top Secret? No. They are not the same.

Think more John Hughes type stuff. Basically, anything that Not Another Teen Movie made fun of, is in play. And add in stuff like Revenge of the Nerds and Porky's.

Have you ever seen Shakespeare using the original text? The man knew how to write. He could put down the most subversive dialogue or scenes, and people would applaud him even though it could mean losing their freedom or their lives. That in and of itself isn't inherently worthy of praise, but he did it without making it seemed forced. MacBeth, the whole opening scene was a stick in the eye of newly passed British law forbidding witchcraft. Knowing it to be ridiculous, he put a scene of witches front and center and made them an integral part of the play. Without them, the entire story of MacBeth doesn't exist.
