Those are probably the only funny moments in the whole movie. But yeah, once it's free I'll definitely see it.

I give Cage credit. He is fully aware of what he brings to the table and he knows that he is the absolute best at doing that. Being self-aware makes it that much better, IMO.

That movie actually looks legit. I get the bit (wink wink) but even while parodying the "nic Cage hype" it keeps it under wraps. Think Being John Malkovich with just a tad more winking.

This weekend looks like it will be the first weekend back to what operation used to look like pre-2020 for theaters with SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME opening. Most theaters in the Chicago area will start screenings around 2-3pm today with some theaters adding some showings well after Midnight. Their schedule will start around Noon-1pm tomoorow and they have a full slate on Sat/Sun. It very much seems like a $150+ million opening is plausible here. By far the largest in the past 2 years.

I'm just hoping that the theaters are prepared for this. They have had their staffing and supply issues since reopening, and for many theatre goers this weekend, this will be their 1st time back. Legitimately hoping that Chads/Karens can just keep their mouths shut and enjoy the films. I feel bad for the staff that are likely going to be blindsided with this.

Why would anybody go to a packed venue -- a movie, a sporting event, a concert, a lecture -- in the middle of a highly transmissible, lethal virus pandemic?

Seriously, what is wrong with people? I know we have been conditioned from birth to consume, but we have survival instincts that go back millions of years.

I mean, at a certain point, you have to live life. To the extent this is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated, why should those of us who are vaccinated with boosters continue to hide in our homes? We're two years on, we've got the technology, those of us willing to use it should get to enjoy the benefits of having done so.

I know that's not going to be a popular opinion on here, but my family didn't get the vaccines as soon as possible just so we could continue to sit at home indefinitely.

Then go hike in the woods.

The idea that we will risk death for entertainment is... well, I guess it's unsurprising.

The point is that for the vaccinated, it's not really risking death absent extenuating circumstances. Even with omicron, having had the 3 shots is most likely going to keep you out of the hospital if you get it.

That's great for people like you and I who find small talk to be onerous and trite, and most people to be boring and terrifyingly stupid. Not so great for the masses. A majority of humans need some degree of social interaction and leaving their home to remain in good mental health, even introverts.

Yeah what is the point of getting shots if we are just gonna sit around doing nothing? There is no logic in that.

We're taking it a bit easy right now just because case loads are high and my sister in law is pregnant (and they've been trying for years), so we're being extra careful before the holidays. N95s everywhere and no large gatherings. We stopped using our hockey tickets at least until the new year and my in laws go into hard lockdown mode with the last month of pregnancy.

But we can interact. I have been to small gathering and small parties, and I work every day with people in an office.

We just can't jam in together like rats.

Everything in moderation. I can't wrap my brain around people who say "either I get everything I want, right now, in unlimited quantities, or I am being oppressed!" That's just being a Dumpy without the Dump.
