Yeah, I was surprised at how much I liked that one. I was also a bit late to the game, but I enjoyed it.

My buddy and I are watching a 70s film a night we havent seen. Not sure what tomorrow will be but so far French Connection is crushing Serpico. Maybe tomorrow will be Dog Day Afternoon.

Black Belt Jones! :D

The French Connection: Excellent film! Obviously a bit dated but still about as good as can be!

One of my favorites. The sequel isn't half bad either. You might have already seen it but I suggest Chinatown. However unlike tFC2, stay away from The Two Jakes.

I've heard The Two Jakes is on par with the last Godfather...

Godfather III never happened. Neither did:

Caddyshack 2
Slap Shot 2
Matrix Reloaded (yeah, I said it)
Weekend at Bernie's II
Cannonball Run II
Superman IV

Consider reading the book, I think you would appreciate (hard to say "enjoy") it. I read it in JHS which was probably A Bad Idea (also read The Choirboys, which was just about as much as my 13-year old brain could take). It is methodical -- it's very much a procedure story. It's seedy AF and a true story. I think it may be one of the best stories of actual police work.

Star Trek: Generations
Exorcist 2: What are you doing, Richard Burton?
Blues Brothers 2000 (except the sound track is actually better)
All the Jaws sh-t
And, obviously, Episode I: George is a Fraud

Late 70s (1982 :p), but handy needs to fit The Verdict in there

Ok, now Kepler has officially lost his mind

I refreshed my mind and OK you're right.

70% of the songs are complete garbage (Season of the Witch, Maybe I'm Wrong, everything John Goodman does, everything in New Orleans in other words everything Paul Schaffer touched).

But it has these amazing gems, all of them not just great songs but great renditions:

Born in Chicago <-- god bless* Matt Guitar Murphy
The Blues Don't Bother Me
Cheaper to Keep Her
634-5789
John the Revelator <-- a particularly great version

* No, seriously.

I'm a bit older than you but read the French Connection and Serpico before I saw the movies. which ended up being reports for HS classes. Enjoyed both, but I prefer books over movies.

I also learned to NEVER watch a movie adaptation from a book if the film was directed by Otto Preminger or Dino Dilaurentis.

I didn’t hate Generations. It was preceded by a lot of garbage. And some of the movies after First Contact (which was excellent) were even worse.

Generations was fine...better than Nemesis to be sure. ;) Personally I think Insurrection is better than First Contact...mainly because my buddy hates First Contact and kind of ruined it for me. Every time it comes up he goes on a rant about how The Borg are supposed to be so smart yet they go back to First Contact instead of say, The Bronze Age and wipe everyone out. They could have accomplished their goal even if the Enterprise went back with them. It is funny, but after the fifth time it kind of gets in the way of the fun of the movie ;)

If anyone likes DS9 (which I do) watch the documentary "All We Left Behind". Great behind the scenes story of the show and the issues it had. It was made by the writers/creators and all of the cast participates.

Hmm. I loved Anatomy of a Murder and Advise and Consent. Are you telling me to read the books and be amazed?

And I thought De Laurentiis was always just the money guy. Did he direct too?

Didn't Dino (or was it his daughter) do Dune 1.0?

Otto ruined
The Cardinal
In Harms Way

I'll give him Advice & Consent. With that cast it was almost impossible to upgafuk it.

Maybe but again I thought he was always a Producer, which is the equivalent of writing checks, smooth talking, and taking credit. It has zero creative input unless it's to dumb things down to not frighten the GOPers in the audience.

Funny fact: I thought until just this second that Oscar de La Renta was Oscar De Laurentiis and related to Dino.
