Didn't Dino (or was it his daughter) do Dune 1.0?

Otto ruined
The Cardinal
In Harms Way

I'll give him Advice & Consent. With that cast it was almost impossible to upgafuk it.

David Lynch did Dune.

Blame the Nope for The Cardinal. He was the Vatican tech consultant. (I'm not kidding. Life is so weird.)

Dune is one of those twisting sci-fi/high fantasy epics that every nerd is supposed to love, stuffed with a massive cast of characters with ridiculous Greco-Persian-Celtic-Germanic names, chasing some Thing of Power - control of a planet where an addictive drug akin to coke and oil combined is harvested. For some reason, I never got into it.

If you read the book first, you WANT to see a movie that pays homage to Frank Herbert's vision(s). 1.0 was a comedy, 2.0 was ok but flawed. Waiting for 3.0.

Hope I last that long.

Never saw Dune because it was deemed an abomination by many right or wrong. There is a remake?

I hope I don't. If they make it now it will be the heavy breathing Profundity for Twats version a la a Chris Nolan or Peter Jackson. Give it a generation to leave that stuff behind.

I think there was a re-cut or something later on, that is supposed to be the "good" version, but I haven't seen either one, and cannot comment on the quality of either.

Tonights film:

"Keep your foot hard on the pedal, son never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out, 'cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarkana
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Oh, we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound, just watch ol' Bandit run"

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the country you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

There's no way, *no* way that you came from *my* loins. Soon as I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is punch yo mamma in da mouth!

For better or for worse, that is a 'Murica movie. Adventure, fun, cowboy wisdom, and even a bit of humanity. The hero shedding his egotistical bravado at times? A classic.

That is a genuinely great quote.

And boy do Southerners not understand the stinger in the tail works both ways.

I looked again. There is another Dune coming out this November, the first of a 2-part adaptation of the novel.
