I mean you are allowed to be wrong but you might not want to announce it so loudly!!

80s had better comedies and action movies / tv. 90s had way, way better dramas on both mediums, hands down.

and while I like my share of 80s music, and never got into the grunge scene in the 90s, I'll still take the pop rock and punk scenes of the 90s with guitars over the 80s synth-heavy stuff.

90s punk sucks. 70s punk is the only true punk!

That said Black Flag and The Misfits >>>>>> Green Day

90s metal >>>>>>> 80s metal (some bands rocked both)

Every decade has good punk. Green Day and Blink-182 suck because they're music for suburban tweens, not because of their decade.

The best punk straddles the 70s and 80s. Black Flag, Misfits, DKs, The Damned, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, Germs.

Minor Threat started in 1980. NOFX in 1983. Fugazi in 1986.

Rancid started in 1991. Many of those weird punk bands from Eastern Europe and Asia started in the 90s.

I'm sure there are great punk bands since the 90s but by definition if I had heard of them* they would not be great. Once you're old and rich you have access to other forms of energy, but when you're young anger is the only energy you have.

* You got me interested so now I'm looking around now, thanks. Scowl, Dollhouse, and I'd put Porvenir Oscuro up against any punk band any time.

Just popped by my local theater to see Top Gun 2: Electric Boogaloo and after looking at the seating map of those already inside and the lengthy line still waiting to get in, decided to skip it for now. I'll go when the crowd thins out and I can still social distance.

The recruiting signs from the US Navy that plastered the theater and surrounding area were not exactly subtle.

Srsly. If anything is more against the spirit of Memorial Day.

Show some respect, ya titty fuckers. Tom Cruise can suck my dick. He doesn't even need to bend.

Ah Memorial Day...the day people pretend they care about the troops. Unlike all the other days of the year when we pretend to care about the troops!

Memorial Day is a day to mourn the casualties of war and vow to stop the idiocy, cruelty, cowardice, and profiteering of war.

No military contractor or politician or advertiser or recruiter should show their face on this day.

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,

Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,

Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,

And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,

But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;

Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots

Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! — An ecstasy of fumbling

Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,

But someone still was yelling out and stumbling

And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime. —

Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,

As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,

He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace

Behind the wagon that we flung him in,

And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,

His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, —

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

To children ardent for some desperate glory,

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Pro patria mori.

You all must be replying to someone on ignore. Based upon your replies I can infer the post in question was insipid at best which begs me to ask - why aren't you using the same feature?

Agree in general about the dramas and music.

90s had:
actions: T2, Matrix, Heat, The Professional, Jurassic Park, Lock stock, fugitive, Predator, Boondock saints, 5th element, first contact, Die Hard Vengance, Red October, total recall, the rock, enemy of the state, starship troopers, crimson tide, true lies, speed, ronin, goldeneye
comedy movies: office space, ace ventura, what about bob, american pie, dumb and dumber, 10 things I hate about you, lewbowski, tommy boy, groundhog day, grumpy old men,
simpsons, news radio, frasier, fresh prince, the tick, space ghost, 3rd rock, beavis & butthead. Among those I didn't care for but would make the list: Seinfeld, friends, kids in the hall, animaniacs, Coach

80s had:
Action: Empire, Raiders, Last Crusade, Die Hard, Terminator, (is blade runner action or drama?), Wrath of Kahn?, Lethal Weapon, beverly hills cop, karate kid
Comedy movies: NL vacation, christmas vacation, caddyshack, planes trains automobiles, spinal tap, naked gun, airplane, strange brew, spaceballs, uncle buck, ghostbusters, back to the future,
Cheers. I have no idea if these were good: Golden girls? Night Court? Newhart? Family Ties? Dukes of Hazard?

Action could go either way. 80s had some serious classics, but fewer of them.
Tough call on the comedy movies. Most of the 90s ones are more polarizing than the 80s. So probably edge goes to the 80s.
For TV comedies, I guess I disagree that the 80s had better, but that's only because I didn't grow up in the 80s and TV shows don't always have the same longevity that movies can sometimes have.

I forget which of you Vandals I have fought for years over how the Dark Knight is overrated fascist goo, but whoever it is deserves to know that this scene pulls me back to watch again and again because it is a perfect scene in everything: writing, acting, and direction. Everything most of the movie (Ledger excluded) lacks so overtly.

Fuck you I'll see you tomorrow.
