Re: Movie Thread: Grab Some Popcorn, Enjoy The Show

Used to great effect in V for Vendetta, it's The Fifth of November.

Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Watched Inside Out last night; brilliant movie.

"San Francisco, you ruined pizza! First the Hawaiians, and now YOU!"

Down Periscope. I'd forgotten how stupidly funny this movie is.

Executive Officer Martin T. 'Marty' Pascal: Jesus, Buckman! This stuff's been on the Stingray since Korea! This can expired in 1966!

Seaman Buckman: [tasting contents of can] What's the matter, sir? It still tastes like creamed corn.

Executive Officer Martin T. 'Marty' Pascal: Except it's *deviled ham*!

Seaman Buckman: Now that would be a problem.

Rear Admiral Yancy Graham: Now, call me a prude if you want, but I don't think it's good policy for the Navy to hand over a billion-dollar piece of equipment to a man who has "Welcome Aboard" tattooed on his *****.

Lt. Cmdr Dodge: Men, at ease. I'd like to introduce you to the newest member of our crew, Lt. Emily Lake. Emily is part of a pilot program to test the feasibility of women serving on submarines. She's going to be our diving officer.
Stepanek: Can she do a one-and-a-half inward back in the layout position?
[laughter]
Lt. Cmdr Dodge: All right, look, gentlemen! I know this is an unusual situation. Can't be easy for Lt. Lake here to be thrown into a jungle such as this, and I know it will make things hard on all of us...
[laughter]
Lt. Cmdr Dodge: Let me re-phrase that. It's going to make things *difficult* on all of us as well. But if we just work together as a team, I'm sure we can handle ourselves...
[laughter]
Lt. Cmdr Dodge: *Comport* ourselves as professionals. That is all.

It's a decent stupid movie. I found additional humor that it was Bradford Tatum's biggest role (probably). Why? He was one of the two main stars in The Stoned Age, one of my favorite stupid movies.

And this (and it's subsequent responses) illustrates why I love this board. I love this stupid movie. It's in my top 3 fun movies of all time (along with Eurotrip and Out Cold).

I've never seen Out Cold, but Eurotrip is phenomenal. From Matt Damon's cameo to passing through tunnels while on the train to that green *ing fairy at the disco.

This isn't where I parked my car!

Out Cold is in the "Movie taking place in Alaska but very obviously not in Alaska" hall of fame, right next to Mystery Alaska.

It's still *ing funny though.

Re: Movie Thread: Grab Some Popcorn, Enjoy The Show

God dammit. Now I want to watch Eurotrip.

Also, for funny stupid movies, I have to toss Grandma's Boy out there too.

UHF, Stoned Age, Eurotrip, Road Trip, PCU, Airheads are all good ones.

There's a fine line between a funny and stupid comedy vs an actual comedy. Movies like Dodgeball, Old School, etc don't quite fit in the above list, for example.

Low expectations is the dividing line. Dodgeball for example doesn't fit because we had expectations of it.

Movies like Eurotrip or Down Periscope or PCU just have that WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot vibe.
