MN @ WI: Cheese And Paint Thinner And Dead Deer, Oh My!

Re: MN @ WI: Cheese And Paint Thinner And Dead Deer, Oh My!

Wisconsin hosted a Women's basketball game at the Kohl Center this afternoon at 12:30. Since they have to change everything over they like to give them an extra hour.

So now attendance and pro hockey are part of the discussion? What's next, pizzing in Cokes?

I think the attendance was about Gopher games because Brent said that you love your hockey teams more than we do even though we can't love our pro team coz we don't have one and Chuck said that your love is evident in all the empty seats at the Mooch.

Okay?

I brought paint thinner back into the discussion, something a badger fan can't live without.

I understood the progression just not the execution. Attendance at Gophers games of late can be attributed to a myriad of factors (overall play, ticket issues, corpie dominance, a failure to embrace students, etc.), yet our overall love of hockey in general should not be considered one of them. Between attendance at h.s., college and pro games I doubt many states can even approach the level here and while I am disappointed at the turnout this year I cannot list it as a logical condemnation for real appreciation for the game in the state. I mean we could go back and forth on this all night long, but when it really comes down to it I don't think love for the game here should realistically be doubted in any form.

Don't forget that our legislature took away the booze.

Re: MN @ WI: Cheese And Paint Thinner And Dead Deer, Oh My!

Great rivalry series this weekend between two very equally matched teams. Great energy and intensity by both teams tonight. Gophers PK was impressive tonight and played well against a very good Badger PP. Cepis found his jets after the first period and really played out of his mind. Both goalies were outstanding and Bennett showed a lot stamina playing hurt for most of the third. Out of 125 minutes on the road in a hostile environment at the Kohl, the Gophers were only behind a total of 9 minutes. Now if we can hit the net more often we might win more games. CC lost tonight so the Gophers have a pt. in hand and the tiebreaker. Overall, a very good performance this weekend by the Gophers.

Not if you don't care that you don't have a team.

Really? You bring that up as a defence now but use the same argument in talking about the packers expecting it to bother us?
Big difference here is that we're still talking about the same sport. I know you claim to be a hawks fan but that is irrelevant when trying to tout your state over another in this context.

probably wouldn't have any empty seats if they charged the same amount as the badgers. It's easy to get 35 dollars when the economy and the team is good.

Exactly! I'd love to take my kids to games all the time but can't afford to shell out for them too often. But people do pay for the ticket, so that's why they do it, however much it sucks for most of us. Why do you think other teams charge more when the Gophers come to town? Because people will pay it to see the game.

I don't tout Wisconsin over Minnesota as an NHL state, since of course there is no team within these borders. What I said was that our NHL team has done just as well as (both of ) yours, meaning that you really don't have much to brag about.

One team decided to leave "The State of Hockey" and the other hasn't done jack, has ugly uniforms and has a stupid name, not to mention Blackhawks castoffs. I only brought up the Hawks to say that I don't care that there isn't an NHL team within our state lines. No one else that I know does either.

Overall, our sports teams across all major sports have done MUCH better than yours in recent history. And I know it bothers you on some level and therefore I use it.

So assuming you are a Viking fan, are you telling me that the Packers winning the Super Bowl doesn't bother you? Nothing? No feelings about it? Not much of a Viking fan then.

It could quite possibly KILL me if the Vikings ever win one and I'm sure it would have if the Ol' Dongslinger had gotten one for you.

The consistency of the Badger football and basketball teams over the past 15 years or so while your programs are mostly just embarrassing? Nothing? B.S.

If these don't bother you, then what is the supposed "border battle," just hockey? Just hockey and MLB? Just NHL?

You obviously have no clue so give it up. This is pointless since you keep changing the "facts" to suit you and conveniently don't care when things don't turn out your way. Enjoy living in your own world because I don't want to go in circles like this any more. Go ahead say I don't have a sense of humor like you have before or anything else you want because it just doesn't matter and I don't want to get to the point that you actually would bother me. Peace out!
