MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

I wish I could say I felt confident about a Gopher sweep this weekend But I have no idea which team is going to show up. But I will take a shot and say Gophers 4-1 Friday 4-3 Saturday ;)

Eight goals this weekend?!......If you think John Pohl, Tom Chorske, Larry Olimb, Ben Hankinson and Corey Millen are going to take the ice this weekend your crazy! At least be realistic if you are going out on a limb and predict a sweep. EIGHT goals!!

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

What concerns Maverick fans most this weekend? According to beat writer Shane Frederick's blog: the arena music   :)

Read the comments to get the full effect. Actually, I kind of understand it has been an issue--but I'm not down there enough anymore to form a good opinion.

What I do know is this: 1-14-4. This is the Maverick's record against the Gophers when I am in attendance at the arena :( The only win was the Friday playoff game in Kato 2 years ago. That means I have never witnessed a regular season Maverick win over the Gophers in person. Considering the all time record, I'm probably not alone.

As it stands now, I will be in attendance for tonight's game in Minneapolis. I will not be there Saturday. Thus, my prediction is a such: split. Gophers Friday and Mavs Saturday :D

The same team scored 9 against Anchorage. I don't think 8 against the Purplish Cows is out of the question.

Don't forget about the 6 the team scored against British Columbia........in one game!

Purplish Cows supporter!!

Whoever said that "you can barely hear the music" has obviously already suffered irreparable damage to his hearing due to excessive exposure to loud heavy metal music. It's already so loud that you have to shout to be heard over it, and I agree with Shane that it more often kills the atmosphere than helps it. Fans are on their feet cheering, the blasting music kicks in, and everybody sits down and shuts up.

Not sure why bert locked your thread. It was getting better with each post

Are you still polishing your helmet three times a day?:D

Hey, better than all that time you spent polishing tDon's.

Hey, if you guys keep playinig the way you've been playing but Mankato keeps playing the way they have this season, you could squeak out a sweep just on talent because neither team's looked good. If EITHER team shows up and plays 120 minutes of solid hockey, they should walk away with 4 points.

I don't think any Gopher fan can bank on a sweep. We've swept, what, one series all year? Probabilities are based off statistics, and frankly, as much as this hurts, the probability says we'll be lucky to find two points in this series. The thousand mile journey begins with the first step, hopefully that step begins this weekend, but numbers don't lie.

Hey, how many games have you seen Minnesota play this year? How many games have you seen Mankato play?

BTW is this the Wooger? Because that is great analysis, based on talent the ground squirrels should never lose a game.

Mankato needs to stay out of the box and play solid defense to overcome the the ground squirrels talent. Lee must have a solid game for the Mavs to have a chance. If not it could be a long night at Mariucci.

Should be a great matchup and I am excited to be in attendance this evening.

Go Mavs!

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

Hey listen up Runtman. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Now I been sayin' that sh*t for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your a*s. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a m*ther*****er before you popped a cap in his a*s. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man.

And Mr. .45 here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous a*s in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that sh*t ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men.

1994 called. It wants its pop culture back.

Don't forget to include your wife's long trips to the store so you and doggy can have your afternoon delight. Thanks for telling all of us how your dumba*s decides to give your dog a bone.

Taking the board too seriously again? :p :D

And I can't help it that my dog is a snuggler.

So you start off criticizing a post for saying the Gophs have more talent and question how much he has seen of the teams- 'must be Woog' -implying you don't agree with the person's assessment that MN has more talent. And then go on to say what the Mavs have to do to "overcome MN's talent"???

While I don't disagree that a fan can't count on a sweep, but to go on and say that you can use a simple probability based on their performance so far, against mainly teams with more talent than the Mavs, and all kinds of other confounding variables, to conclude that it would be "lucky" to get two points, is a little misleading. I would say, if you consider all factors, getting 5 points would be lucky. Getting 4 is finally living up to expectations. Getting 2 is under-performing (unless perhaps the Mav goalie completely stands on his head.)

If you want to talk probabilities, lets just say the probability still appears high that at least one goal on the weekend that the Gophers score will add a point for Mankato on the scoreboard.

I didn't say you could bank on one. I said if one of the teams show up and play two complete hockey games, they're probably sweeping.

Few thoughts:

-Learn to quote
-I've seen all Gopher games and a couple Mankato games. I actually was on Mankato's bandwagon to fight for home ice going into the year. Neither the Gophers, nor Mankato, nor my Huskies for that matter, have lived up to their potential this year thusfar.
-I hate Doug Woog more than you could ever know, but I said that if NEITHER team showed up, MN wins on talent. Mankato has a good shot in this series, they just need to put more effort into it than the Gophers, which this year isn't too hard to do.
-Based purely on talent, MN should lose some games... they should lose to DU and UND for sure.
