MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

I have heard that the M Men aren't very happy with the Don, have any gopher fans heard about him being on a VERY hot seat?

To: a fan of a team who's from our state and won 2 NC's this decade
From: tUMD, SCSU and MSU-M fans

Hush!

Sorry, but we have high expectations, and a few years of mediocrity is suffering for us. (And it was quite a dry spell before those two.)

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

I heard McGoff's closed. I've been boycotting Mankato ever since.

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

Love the title. Way back when I was in school, one of my fraternity brothers was the prototypical absent minded professor type (went on to MIT for his masters in ME later). He was from Mankato and got three speeding tickets one year while driving back to school, all at the same speed trap. :D

I hope the Gophs can start playing with some consistent effort and avoid the dumb*** defensive bobbles. Might have a shot if they do.

I have to miss the Friday game for a kids' tourney.:( Will watch the tape replay.

Apparently your "MIT" friend was just as retarded as Koren Robinson.

Mavs sweep.

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

I'm getting excited for the one and only meeting between these two teams.

The Friday night playoff game in Mankato two years ago changed this series for the better. Prior to that, Mankato seemingly didn't belong on the same sheet of ice with the Gophers. Minnesota fans might see this new found competitiveness as just another sign of the times, the degradation of their hockey program. Maverick fans see it as our squad turning the corner, playing more inspired and focused hockey against our most hated opponent.

There is little doubt that the scales have evened, and UM had better be ready to scrap and battle to take any points from the Mavericks. And scrap they did, in their last meeting the two teams combined for over 150 penalty minutes and had several on-ice melees, including one which ended MSU defenseman Channing Boe's season. There is no love lost, I'm sure, and will there be retribution? Brian Schack and his thuggish antics are not easily forgotten, nor are Lucia's comments basically denouncing the way MSU plays hockey.

A year later and not much has changed, those wearing the maroon are still soft and prissy prima donnas, going through the motions on their way to AHL greatness. The purple, typically hard nosed and hard working still play hockey the right way.

Will the series take the same shape? That is, the Mavs winning races and physical battles all over the ice, and the goon Schack trying desperately to compensate for his team's lack of fortitude by taking vicious cheap-shots? Can the Gophers get off the embarrassing slide? Pride on Ice is a fading and distant memory, erased by a new brand of underachieving blue chips. The only thing the Gophers can take pride in now is who they used to be.

Oh and Keith Ballard should spend the night in jail.

Well, that certainly didn't pull any punches. I like fiery attitude from the fans. Hopefully the team takes the same attitude.

As of the CC series, when it took me 30 minutes to get through St. Peter on Friday night, it most certainly was not.

I think it was supposed to be done a while ago, but I've heard rumors that they won't be able to finish it before winter.

As of Thanksgiving day St. Peter had no construction. It ran smoothly.

Fixation (c)

(Sorry to step on your toes Scooby, it had to be said.)

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

What will Jutting do?

As for speed traps, St. Peter is the answer. Seven lanes wide (counting parking and turn lane) and a 30 mph speed limit, heavily enforced.

Pretty much from Le Sueur to Mankato, watch out.

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

It's not really a speed trap anymore since that road is now permanently closed for construction. If the people in charge of that project had been charged with building our national highway system, we'd have no roads west Pennsylvania yet.

The only other places I ever see cops are in Belle Plaine, where they took out all the stop lights, but the speed limit still goes down to 55, and after games, just north of Jordan.

Construction is finished

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

Hey Maize, in case you didn't know...that construction is finished.

Just in case you didn't see the previous 17 posts about it...:p

Re: MN vs. MN State Mankato: Where Exactly Are The Speed Traps On 169?

I posted this over on GPL too, but I figured i'd share it here as well.

The Star Tribune is reporting that Tim Brewster sold his house.

And coincidentally, ESPN is reporting that Tim Brewster is leaving the U to head to Notre Dame as their TE coach and he will also head up their recruiting program.
