MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Scoobs we're tied for first in the WCHA and 8th in the PWR which would obviously put us in the tourney(I know long way to go) I understand the last few games have been rough but come on big guy can't we still think about this season?

8th in the PWR and tied for first in the WCHA. That says volumes. Once the conference record starts to equalize with the non-conference record they'll be on the outside looking in.

I think maybe I get it now, Scooby. If pride is one of the flaws underlying treachery, which is what the ninth circle is reserved for, are you trying to avoid false pride in order to save your soul? If so, that's a tall order for a gopher fan.

My locale is the 9th circle already.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Pretty reasonable, from a gopher perspective. But hope is enough for 4. If you're going to pray, maybe pray to win a fight--now for a gopher, that would take prayer.

What's the point of that? They'll be too busy throwing shots on Dell to worry about trying to goon it up.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

That's tough. Maybe when you and the poets break on through to the other side, you will be a Sioux fan. Something to hope for.

But the Sioux don't exist anymore so that might be hard for Scooby. ;)

Is anything inside the Ralph original. After penalty 'always were' = Gophers, after a goal 'chelsea dagger' = Chicago Blackhawks, pre-game song = MN Wild. It's just sad...I can't wait to start hating Michigan more in a couple of years!

New Logo = Notre Dame. Old Nickname = Notre Dame.

I agree.

North Dakota began using the interlocking 'ND' back in 1884 (baseball team), a few years before Notre Dame began using it.

I don't remember Notre Dame being named after a native american tribe.

Fighting Irish. Fighting Sioux.

Mariucci posted an article in another thread where UND admitted taking it from Notre Dame.

And source for your other point?

I'd have to go back through all the old Baseball media guides to find the picture of the baseball team that used it on their shirts. I believe Notre Dame started using it in the late 1880s, but I don't remember for sure where it came from.

FWIW, I'd be curious to read that article that mariucci "found". I'm not sure why UND would say they took it from Notre Dame (unless they were talking about a version of the interlocking ND) when the school used it before Notre Dame did.

As for the "Fighting" portion of it, that is ridiculous. That would be like saying Minnesota took the "Golden" part of their nickname from the Golden Hurricane (who had the term "Golden" in their nickname a full decade before Minnesota).

I wish Iremember which thread he posted it in. BTW - I don't care either way. Just messing with you guys :)

Mooch, can you post that article again for FS23.

Huh? The Fighting Sioux nickname didn't come into effect until 1930 before that we all know the school used the nickname Flickertails.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

I HATE YOU SUXIES! I will say, if I could add any enemy player to the Gophs, it would be Ben "I Log Mega Minutes" Blood. 2-1 right now...

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

I could give a rats *** about the SUE, if the Gophs don't win tomorrow, they could very well play their way out of an NCAA bid...we'll call it a "Tubby" slide. UGH!

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Well, I can't say I'm surprised by the style of the game tonight. Both teams played hard, but ultimately North Dakota got the extra break to fall their way. I expect nothing less tomorrow night.
