MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Once you get to the point he did, on entering the locker room/corridor, you keep going, and then I don't care what you do. But to come back? That's my issue.

Was it dumb, stupid, idiotic, immature, and he looked like a fool? Of course. My issue is trying to pretend like only players from certain teams do this. College kids do this.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

This. The effort was there for the Gophers. Didn't have a lot of problems with the Gophers play tonight. A few dumb penalties by Ambroz (what's new) and a few costly turnovers by Bjugstad aside, the Gophers played really well. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team.

Now, if the Gophers played with this same effort/intensity consistently for the past few months, maybe we wouldn't be 6-7-1 since the last UND series and lacking momentum and confidence.

Yeah I thought the effort was there as well, I do hope they go over some PP videos from tonight and use them for "how not to run a PP" though.

Sigh. Again, this is what college kids do. Gophers have done it in the past, and Gophers will do it in the future. North Dakota kids have done it in the past, and they will also do it in the future. __________ (insert any college hockey program) players have done it in the past, and they will do it in the future.

As an EP alum, I was embarrassed by Kristo's actions, and that has nothing to do with who he plays for. It was childish pure and simple. And no one is saying only UND players are guilty of that.

I'm not calling out the entire Whioux team. I'm calling out Kristo, in this specific instance only. Gophers have had the same penalty this year. They yelled and hollered and complained until they hit the corridor. Then that was it. MTU had a player kicked out against the Gophers this year. I was just a few feet away. Same thing. Once he hit that doorway, he was done. Kristo went above and beyond. That's what I find pathetic.

Fair enough.

Did you really expect more out of a Minnesota kid though?

:p:D:D

Is anything inside the Ralph original. After penalty 'always were' = Gophers, after a goal 'chelsea dagger' = Chicago Blackhawks, pre-game song = MN Wild. It's just sad...I can't wait to start hating Michigan more in a couple of years!
Is there any school that DOESN'T yell "We always were!!" after killing a penalty?

The players actually requested Chelsea Dagger be used a couple years ago. Can you really blame them, though? You've seen the affect it has on Roberto Luongo...:D

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Yep. With that said though, Kristo looked like an immature 3 year old who didn't get what he wanted. :o

He definitely did. FWIW, Kristo has always had that side to him. Hopefully he learns, and hopefully he's embarrassed for himself. It was definitely a temper tantrum.

I was actually going to mention that as well. Though I wasn't sure if I was erroneous in remembering that.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

The early fast start inflated our view of MN. Clearly they are a .500 team at best. They take stupid penalties at inopportune times, they commit ugly turnovers in their own zone, and they repeatedly lose puck battles and fail to support the puck carrier. This isn't a first place WCHA team or even a 2nd place one. I figure they'll finish in 3rd in the league (and only that high because the league is weak this season) and will find themselves somewhere near the NCAA bubble in March. The run of mediocrity continues unabated.

The only way out of this mess for MN that I can see is if the second line can start producing. Haula has been MIA for a couple months at least. Plus the powerplay has completely cratered. This is the second straight game they had a 5 minute powerplay and did absolutely nothing with it. That's inexcusable.

Is Jake Hanson on the team anymore? Or is he hurt? I haven't seen much of him in the last 2 months.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

He's a player who plays with a lot of emotion and intensity and he let his emotions get the better of him...needs to learn how to control them.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Maybe the worst display of powerplay hockey you'll see by two teams.
This and the failure to win key puck battles in their own end is what doomed the Gophers.

Effort is fine (expected that against a rival), but they need to execute. They can start by taking Ambroz out back and shooting him if he continues with his stupid penalties.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Danny Kristo is yelling. He's not allowed to do that! :(

Andrew MacWilliam scoring made my weekend.
