MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Tony Lucia trashed a locker room at the Ralph. That was great behavior too, huh? Both sides have seen poor behavior over the years of this rivalry.

Eye for an eye. Rivalries bring out the best and worst in people. I'm not going to defend Danny, but there are lots of babies out there, that have acted like it at times. Danny's from EP. It's not surprising he has this attitude.

Personally, I think Gopher fans (and others, but I'll focus on Gopher fans) are whining about Kristo's attitude so much because they need something to whine about after a loss to a "mediocre" team.

Hate to do it, but have to agree with you. Although it's unacceptable to behave like that, things happen and people get fired up. At least he waited until he was in the hallway to smash the stick...the problem is that the camera was able to follow him in there. Had he gone another 10 feet and did it, no one would have known and there wouldn't be any chatter around it.

I do have a problem with the hit though...another stupid play for a highly skilled player. Checking from behind and finishing with a punching motion isn't good and shouldn't be in the game (which is why I'm glad he got 5 min and game misconduct).

The way you characterize this, it's as though it's all any of us have talked about since the game ended. I've only noticed a couple people (Brent and Jdubbs) make mention of it. Personally, I don't give a **** about it. When a player gets tossed out of the game, of course he's going to try to break his stick on the way to the showers. The only thing that made Kristo's exit (slightly) different from most is that he decided to come back to the bench area and yell a few things before heading back down the tunnel.

At any rate, I have more pressing concerns than what some hothead for the opposition did after leaving the rink. Namely, I'm wondering:
- why MN's powerplay has turned to **** (more chances against than generated last night plus a wasted 5 minute major)
- why MN's forwards continue shooting high even on odd-man rushes (miss the net with players in position for a rebound)
- how MN can lose several puck battles in its own end leading to the GWG late in the 3rd
- why MN didn't support the puck at all in UND's zone when attempting to tie it in the final two minutes
- who the **** is the guy wearing the Haula jersey because it's clearly not the same player I saw in the first six weeks
...etc.

Oh, and there's no need to put quotation marks around mediocre - any team with a record near .500 as UND's is qualifies as one. Speaking of that, MN has played mediocre (again, no need for quotation marks) since these teams last met. While I believe MN played better last night than they have in quite some time, obviously the results are what matter - and MN needs to stop this aggravating and long-running problem of dropping Friday night games.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

I think tonight is a big test for this gopher team. It's only January, but if they drop another one to this UND team, you have to seriously question what you saw in the first two months of the season and whether this coaching staff can maximize the talent it's given.

Good job Susie! My nervous twitch gets better proportionally to the Gophers moving back towards mediocrity.

And Gopher fans, quit whining about Kristo.

"It's such a travesty. It's an affront to hockey."

Blah blah blah.

If I was judged by everything that I've done on the ice over 30 years that was then left on the ice...

Emotional game. Nothing to see here.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Most of us have already begun asking questions - it's hard not to do that when a team plays .500 hockey for two months after starting the season 9-1.

Calms the nerves, no question. But when was the last time UMinn, UND and UW were all trying to dig out of mediocrity in January?

Thanks, but we're still climbing towards mediocrity.

On another note... Hawks/Wings in less than two hours. Chance to see what will eventually be the best player to ever come through G.F.

I never said Danny Kristo was the only player to act like a baby, or that there haven't been Gophers that have acted this way. Stop being ultra-defensive.

Nick Leddy, Kyle Rau, and Garrett Smaagaard were from EP too, and none of them whine like Kristo does.

For the most part, the Gophers were more consistent in their play than they have been for awhile. They still didn't quite have the intensity to win most battles on the boards like they did early on, but were pretty good most of the game, having stretches where they kept play in UND zone. However, part of their success early on was due to their PP success. If they can find a way to get their powerplay clicking again and can keep up the play like last night, they can still win a lot of games. And if they can kick up the intensity to early season levels, the PK will also fall into place. I'm not going to say this will happen. But at least their play last night was a turn in the right direction. Hopefully the intensity wasn't only possible because it was the ________.

Sounds like you have ***** envy.

Hardly. I'm proud of Danny. He's from my home town. I just wish he would whine a little less. There were plenty of North Dakota fans criticizing him for that last night too, and I was just as critical of guys like Birkholtz (though I think he had some real problems and I felt bad for him too).
