MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Congrats, UND ______. You beat us. Better be a different story tomorrow.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Well, I can't say I'm surprised by the style of the game tonight. Both teams played hard, but ultimately North Dakota got the extra break to fall their way. I expect nothing less tomorrow night.

The extra break being Minnesota's top line derping the hell out the place.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Hopefully Patterson doesn't play as well tomorrow...tonight could have easily been about 5 or 6-1.

Dell wasn't shabby, either.

Two stupid mistakes really cost MN. B Jugs turning it over, and Ambroz's stupid penalty late in the game.

Dell played well and made the saves he should have made. He made a few very good saves, but Patterson made 6 to 8 great saves. Those two guys are 1a and 1b (in whatever order you want to place them) in the WCHA. I wouldn't be surprised if they both get All-American honors at the end of the year.

IMO, Ambroz's penalty didn't really play a big difference. North Dakota was far better on the Gopher powerplay than Minnesota was. Also, FWIW, North Dakota was mediocre at best on the powerplay, but at least prevented Minnesota from generating offense.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Close game, could have gone either way.

Our PP was horrendous, needed to score on that 5 min major.

Grats to the Sioux

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Minnesota is now 6-7-1 since they swept the Sioux.

North Dakota is 9-2-1 since the Minnesota debacle. That is all without Rocco Grimaldi (and a host of other players who have missed a handful of games). If North Dakota can continue their strong play, and get healthy, they will be a difficult out come the postseason.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

The early fast start inflated our view of MN. Clearly they are a .500 team at best. They take stupid penalties at inopportune times, they commit ugly turnovers in their own zone, and they repeatedly lose puck battles and fail to support the puck carrier. This isn't a first place WCHA team or even a 2nd place one. I figure they'll finish in 3rd in the league (and only that high because the league is weak this season) and will find themselves somewhere near the NCAA bubble in March. The run of mediocrity continues unabated.

The only way out of this mess for MN that I can see is if the second line can start producing. Haula has been MIA for a couple months at least. Plus the powerplay has completely cratered. This is the second straight game they had a 5 minute powerplay and did absolutely nothing with it. That's inexcusable.

And you've got the injury bug and Minnesota does not. Makes sense don't it? Makes me sick to my stomach.

Agreed, ours was ugly and led to more scoring chances for the Sioux than 5 on 5 I think.

That was a very entertaining game especially with UND getting the win and all. :D

Not sure why some of the Gopher fans are preparing to jump off the ledge. The game could've gone either way. Even despite the loss, the Gophers looked good to me.

At least we are classier than this. Yelling at the refs on the way to the locker room? Fine. Breaking the stick? Dandy. Coming back to yell some more? Pathetic.

Sigh. Again, this is what college kids do. Gophers have done it in the past, and Gophers will do it in the future. North Dakota kids have done it in the past, and they will also do it in the future. __________ (insert any college hockey program) players have done it in the past, and they will do it in the future.

This. The effort was there for the Gophers. Didn't have a lot of problems with the Gophers play tonight. A few dumb penalties by Ambroz (what's new) and a few costly turnovers by Bjugstad aside, the Gophers played really well. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team.

Now, if the Gophers played with this same effort/intensity consistently for the past few months, maybe we wouldn't be 6-7-1 since the last UND series and lacking momentum and confidence.

Maybe tDon shouldn't have broken out the "this a young team that will have it's ups and downs" talk when they were winning. This team got complacent really fast.

Once you get to the point he did, on entering the locker room/corridor, you keep going, and then I don't care what you do. But to come back? That's my issue.
