MN Gophers @ tUMD Bulldogs: Sibling Rivalry!

Re: MN Gophers @ tUMD Bulldogs: Sibling Rivalry!

Grats to tDogs on the win. The Gophers had some chances tonight and couldn't bury a few more goals or stop Connelly, he is a pure goal scorer and buried most of his chances.

Re: MN Gophers @ tUMD Bulldogs: Sibling Rivalry!

I strongly disagree that these calls "always go against the Gophers." A certain non-call when we faced UND had this place up in arms, despite it being the correct non-call, IMO.

They have alot more go against them then for them for sure you cant even argue that! I know they have been less than stellar these last 3.5 years but I have watch every game on TV since I can remember and I am 30 and these last few years seem like we get the shaft on alot of these calls. I respect your opinion cause you are probably a better hockey mind than me but that is just how it looks to me! Can't wait until friday Gopher Denver should be good I think we can do some damage a least one night next week!

Re: MN Gophers @ tUMD Bulldogs: Sibling Rivalry!

Agreed. My only point is that the waved-off goal (HORRIBLE CALL) directly changed at least the next few minutes of gameplay. Instead of 3-3, we have two PP's (one for each team) and soon after that a tUMD goal to make it 4-2.

I know you weren't personally blaming the refs, and perhaps no one else did. I guess my point was that as bad as a call as it was, especially given the 'what if' factor if the goal had been correctly counted, the Gophers just didn't do what they needed to follow-up another solid Friday performance with an earned win. This team has been 'oh so close' in so many games but I think I am finally resigned to the probability that this season is not going to result in NCAA opportunities and it really, really breaks my hockey heart. (yeah, I know it's corny)

Gophernation - whether or not they've had more bad luck 'illegitimately' go against them or not, they've had enough chances this year to make their own lot and they haven't got the job done when it counted most. That cannot be denied. No excuses, no denials. They are just not good enough. :(

Who is this Chris Student Follow that is on the Gophers roster this year? He obviously transfered from Northeastern but is he still sitting out his year or what? Dont know anything about him thats why I am interrested.

So, what's the spin over here? Last week first shutout by UAA at Mariucci. This week 5 goals given up to one player. I'm watching just to see what they come up with next.

He transferred. He has to sit out a year for transferring. This year is it.

I'm with you, after this loss it finally hit that we will not be in the NCAA tourney again this year and that is tough to swallow.

No spin with me Scooby that was probably the nail in the coffin, I was still trying to hold out some hope before this series depending on what happened.

I agree they have had plenty of chances to put the puck in the net this year I mean last saturday against AA Hoeffel should of had 3 goals on 3 empty net shots for him and he fanned on each one. I still believe this team is under achieving and that they could be one of the better teams in the league, call me crazy but I think its the truth I mean look how they play when the play a top 10 team, they can skate with any team at any time they just dont for some reason. They dont have the drive that the kids use to have when they put that M on, and there is no excuse for that! May be Lucia is getting the wrong players I dont know, I can tell you one thing they have way to much talent to play the kind of hockey they play week in and week out.

Scooby your pessimism has finally won out. Congrats.

It's a moral victory.

Aaah, yes. There it is. Got news for ya but the Simple Math has pretty much sucked since the Ferris tie. There was still hope but hope requires an entire weekend of hockey. Something we never seem to get to see.

I already said you win. Be happy.

Re: MN Gophers @ tUMD Bulldogs: Sibling Rivalry!

Must be. :) Good game UMD. You guys deserved the 'W' tonight, regardless of the refs. Patterson just wasn't sharp tonight, neither was our 'D', and despite our offense clicking, it wasn't enough.

The D is exactly why Minnesota is sitting looking up at most of the rest of the league. It's just not very good, and if it weren't for Patterson, the Gophers would likely be sitting in 8th or 9th place.

They'll most likely be in 8th place tonight after the UAA game.
