Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

Ah, well, that would explain things. Next time I suppose I can open a link posted by Duey and save myself some time critiquing an article that was likely copied and pasted into freetranslation.com.

So I should have posted the article in French or should have went thru and corrected the weak translation?

Who gives a S**T? Although tough to read, you get the point of the article. Don't tie me to the tracks because you didn't realize it was translated.

Montreal throwing Lucia under the bus now? Sweet. Couldn't have been their scouting dept. I suppose? After all, they've been so relevant the last few years.

Oh there is no question that's what they're doing.....But in the interest of fairness Lucia signed Fischer and not Kyle Medvec. Sure....Fischer looked like the clear choice at the time but how that did turn out? Again....Lucia doesn't have a crystal ball but it's still on his watch.

No. The article isn't about who Lucia chose, it's about who Montreal chose. Montreal screwed up and now they're blaming someone else for their mistake. Much like the Islanders have done. Lucia has won before, RECENTLY. The Islanders haven't been relevant since the early '80's.

Touche......I got off topic and started doing exactly what Montreal did and started going after Lucia.

But in my defense.....I don't care who Montreal picks, I care who Lucia picks. And yes, this is nothing more than Montreal's scouts praticing a little CYA....it just so happens to be true!!

Fischer was a hot mess.....sorry for all you Fischer fans but he was a flop. Was there a bigger flop in the programs history?

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

Fisher has just leveled out on development much like Dave Spehar did. You cannot predict how far a kid will go and it is a crap shoot at 18 to speculate. You roll the dice on the kids. Some make it and some do not all depends on a lot of variables falling into place at the right time. Hindsight is always 20/20.

You're a walking contradiction.:D By the way, Medvec logged 32 pts in three years for VT, D. Fischer 33 in three years. Now what is your point?

how so? Or are you just trying to impress your Sue friends so maybe they'll let you hang out w/ them? Ya, I've seen your man-crush posts on the Sue boards. For Gods sake, pull yourself together and have some pride and hate the Sue like real Gopher fan.....and at least clean up before coming back over here.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

"This is not only in Minnesota, said second recruiter. I recently attended a game between Notre Dame and Michigan State, it was terrible. There was no talent. No markers, no guards. I'm not saying it never comes out, but nobody was impressive. There are still good programs in the NCAA: Michigan, Boston University, Boston College, Wisconsin, North Dakota. But the best place for a young person who wants access to the NHL, it is the junior leagues. It's professional. Unless the young player is not ready physically, as is the case with Louis Leblanc. He decided to study and grow. Ultimately, it will not prevent him from making his way. It will perhaps take him a year older. But physically, he is so not ready. "
You can place some of the blame on USA Hockey individual skill development for what we see progress on the ice in today's game. Many kids buzzing around on D1 ice have all the individual skill but lack the game sense for playing as a team.

You're going to base your argument about the worth of blue liner based on points?

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

A nugget of good news from the story:

Dimond said Fox Sports wants to “focus and energize” its Gophers hockey telecast next season and as a result will air all home games in high definition.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

To be honest they seem to be suggesting Woog might be gone this year as well.

As much as I didn't like Frank and Woog, I always thought it was because I didn't like the Gophers. To me, Frank and Woog WERE Gopher Hockey and this is really disappointing.

LaPanta doesn't have two bits of charisma to rub together when he does play by play.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

I was never wild about the way Frank called the game, but I had gotten used to it. It will be strange not hearing his voice on the broadcasts any more.

Doug has to stay just for the entertainment value.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

Ugh....Anthony "tanning bed" Lapanta? I have to mute high school games when he does those.

But I suppose.....you can only stroke opposing teams during the hometown broadcast so much before you get gassed. (not saying it wasn't warranted but those two were off the charts this year....it was embarrassing)
