Penn 6-5 over #13 Auburn in 11 innings
Rider 11-10 over #10 Coastal Carolina in 10 innings
Oral Roberts 6-4 over #11 Oklahoma State
and right now Nicholls is up 1-0 on #16 Alabama in the 5th.

The A's ownership is claiming that 53% of the people going to A's games will be visitors. Insert snarky comment about how they're just moving the team and continuing the plan to suck for eternaty.
 
Along with that, I've seen a lot of people jump on the idea that the A's would do 4pm local starts so patrons can do the game, then head out to do whatever in the evening.

So instead of becoming a Las Vegas team like the Knights, their plan is to be the Washington Generals for every MLB team who comes to town. Brilliant strategy.

*rolls eyes*

Can't wait for them to also schedule some Midnight start games to avoid the heat and attempt to draw the second shift employees to games...
 
That's what you get when a team is run strictly as a business.

I guess they have seen how the Raiders have attracted a good chunk of out-of-towners and want to emulate that.
 
One 4 seed through so far as Oral Roberts makes it to supers. Chance for another tonight as Penn has a second shot against Southern Miss after falling last night.

There’s the possibility for only five seeded teams to advance, which would be quite the contrast to softball where I think only two non-seeded teams advanced to supers. And there’s a bit of a Cinderella in Indiana State advancing, even as a seeded team. They have some past success but that was 30-40 years ago.
 
62 team games into the season and the media has already started the " Can Arraez hit .400" daily watch. He's at .401.

Can we at least wait till after the all-star break?

Note, I'd be happy to see him chase it all summer.

Whether it was Corey Kluber or Prince Fielder before him, the Rangers’ “medical team” saw what they wanted with deGrom, and ignored every piece of common sense to bring a big bat, or live arm, to the lineup. deGrom will join the Rangers 2022 first round draft pick, pitcher Kumar Rocker, to have Tommy John surgery this year. These are both New York Mets “rejects” that Texas Rangers GM Chris Young gambled would be healthy, and contribute to the Rangers this season, and in the near future. There’s a decent chance deGrom will never be the same if and when he does return.

If deGrom is done, the insurance policy will alleviate the Rangers from absorbing this crushing number to the fullest. The insurance policy is what saved the Rangers the last time they went all-in on stupid and ignored medicals to add an injured player.

OK, so it's not so terrible for the Range--

DeGrom signed a 5-year, $185 million deal with the Rangers in free agency. Texas took a chance on him despite knowing his history because they were desperate for pitching help. And they took an even bigger risk than many people realized.

In response to the news of deGrom’s surgery, we learned that the Rangers did not purchase insurance on the pitcher’s contract. According to an article published by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal last month, the Rangers chose not to pay for insurance on deGrom’s deal because the cost would have been “prohibitively expensive.”

So, I'm not exactly a model Capitalist. But if the insurance is too expensive, isn't that the market telling you to not sign the contract?
