With the new, more balanced scheduling I think it’s entirely possible. The AL East is all above .500 right now. The Yankees are in last but would be leading the Central divisions.
I didn't consider the effects of a more balanced schedule. Will be interesting to see if anything happens whe you are able to prove that entire divisions are mailing it in.

Tonight is one of those times when I thank all the gods who ever seduced maidens in the form of aquatic fowl that I am a Mets fan.

Holy f-ck that was fun.

NCAA softball tournament started yesterday. Last year's Oklahoma team had an argument for best team ever, and this year's team is making an even stronger argument. They came in with a 51-1 record, the only loss being a 4-3 defeat at Baylor. They lead the nation in the following:

.368 batting average
.462 on base percentage, .038 better than the second place team, which is larger than the gap between 2nd and 33rd.
.665 slugging percentage, .083 better than the second place team, larger than the gap between 2nd and 25th.
1.92 doubles per game
1.81 home runs per game
8.13 runs per game, 1.15 better than the second place team, which is larger than the gap between 2nd and 25th.
.86 ERA, a half run better than the second place team, which is larger than the gap between 2nd and 12th.
30 shutouts, eight more than the 2nd place team, which is larger than the gap between 2nd and 16th.
.988 fielding percentage
23 mercy rule wins

They’re now 52-1 after another mercy rule win over Hofstra 11-0 last night.
