Reds' Tommy Pham is suspended for 3 games because before the Reds-Giants game on Friday he slapped Giants' Joc Pederson over a disagreement stemming from injured reserve rules in their fantasy football league: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/f...happened-and-how-to-avoid-it-in-your-leagues/

Can't make this stuff up.

That sounds like a ratcoon story to me.

I assume either (1) they are clubhouse hotheads having it out or (2) somebody fucked somebody's somebody out of turn.

Indiana had led, 13-2. I'll never complain about our bullpen again.

Funny thing is they gave up a 10 spot and STILL had the lead :-)

Yep. Helluva thing.

Noted POS Tommy Lasorda famously had a box score tacked to his office wall for years from a minor league game where his team gave up 11 in the ninth and won by 1. Still counts.

The Mets lead their division by 10 games. It is May.

Chickens, counting, all of that. Don't buy those playoff tickets just yet. On August 1st last year they were in 1st place up 5 on the 3rd place Braves and by the end of August they were in 3rd, down 5 games to the 1st place Braves. In 2007 they were up 7 on the Phillies on September 12th and won 5 games the rest of the month and finished out of the playoffs. If I bet on baseball though, I think this year they hold on to at least a post season bid.

Speaking of LA, Clash of the Titans begins tonight.

Titans should not be swept at home by the Pirates. One would think the Mets should easily win the series based on LA's performance this week, but that probably means the Dodgers will win at least 3 of the games, if not complete the sweep.

The God damn Yankees sorta have something going....

They are getting outstanding starting pitching. Cole was expected to be good, and Montgomery was expected to be a solid 2-3 starter. Severino's stuff has always been electric, but the only question was health. The expectation was that if he could stay healthy, he's good enough to be a staff #1.

Those three guys have basically met expectations, and have been real good. The thing is, they're the three worst starters on that team right now. Cortez and Taillon have been lights out.

It's kind of funny, because this year more of the question marks are in the bullpen.

Allow me to reiterate from earlier...

Looking at the Yankees schedule, There is no reason why they shouldn't win 120 games. It is so pillowy soft. There seems to be only 2 challenging stretches, and most of the games in them are at home.

June 14-26: TB 3, @TOR 3, @TB 3, HOU 4
August 15-23: TB 3, TOR 4, NYM 2

The rest of the time its feasting on bottom dwellers.
But, to be honest, they are underperforming. Currently only on a 114 win pace.

I would remind you of a fellow poster's pessimism regarding another outstanding team across the East River.

It's a long season and the Miracle Braves, 1951 Giants, and 1978 Yankees are a reminder of counting your chickens too early.

Addendum: Phillies have fired Joe Girardi. Bench boss Rob Thomson takes over.
