This isn’t as unique now after the COVID season, but the Tigers and A’s are in the midst of a five game series and play a traditional DH today in Detroit with Oakland as the home team in the first game.

The Reds on Sunday became the sixth team since 1901 to not allow a hit and lose a game.
Reds Sunday vs. PIT
Angels - 6/28/08 vs. LAD
Red Sox - 4/12/92 vs. CLE
Yankees - 7/1/90 vs CHW
Orioles - 4/30/67 vs. DET
Colt .45s - 4/23/64 vs CIN

Boston Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi became the third pitcher in major league history to allow five home runs in one inning Tuesday night.

In his Fenway Park start against the Houston Astros, Eovaldi lasted just 1⅔ innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs while striking out none. In the second inning, after working a three-up, three-down first, Eovaldi allowed homers to Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley, Jeremy Pena, Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez as Houston raced out to a 9-1 lead amid boos from the Boston faithful.

Homer at the Bat was on tonight. Got me thinking what that lineup might look like if the episode was made today. I tried to grab the top player at each position, even if that's not exactly what happened in the episode.

P: Ohtani
C: Salvador Perez
1B: Vlad
2B: Marcus Semien
3B: Jose Ramirez
SS: Tatis
RF: Juan Soto
CF: Trout
LF: Bryce Harper (moved from RF)

RF is stacked. Soto, Harper, and Acuna would all be good picks. There's also much more of an international flavor, or should I say any international flavor compared to The Simpsons lineup.

And in the next game, Nick Pivetta throws a COMPLETE GAME(!) 2 hitter in a tidy 2:38. The Home Towne Team won 5-1 over the Texas Trash Can Drummers.

I was there! I feel like I saw something historic. There hasn't been a complete game thrown by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway since Rick Porcello did it in August 2018. That's almost 4 years!!! Yeesh. And the fact that it was over in less than three hours?? Unheard of. Plus, the game started at 6:10 so I was home on my couch before 9:30. I was a bit annoyed at the 6:10 start because I didn't realize till yesterday morning, but now I'm a fan. Probably because I'm old and games that don't end till close to 11pm are really exhausting. Heh.

Iowa beat Indiana 30-16 tonight. Took four and a half hours and could’ve had even more scoring with 22 left on base between the teams.

Actual shot from Denver today.
