If you lose a bunch in April you won't contend. You can't make the playoffs in April, but you can miss them. Unless you are Oakland. They are the lone exception.
Didn't the Mets start out strong last year?

Plus, it's the Mets.
Wins in April don't guarantee anything, but it's still a win that will add to the total. Doesn't mean you can pack it in come May 1st. But also doesn't mean you should dig yourself into a hole in April.
Didn't the Nationals start out something like 13-29 but then go on to win the WS?

That's not even Cleveland Spiders bad.But hey, at least they aren't Cincy. The Reds lost again tonight after breaking their losing skid Sunday. They're now 3-14, on pace for a 29-133 season.

Which, is what the Guardians should have been named.

Not sure this has ever happened before. Top 4 records in MLB:
1. Queens
2. The Bronx
3. Manhattan
4. Brooklyn
Too bad about the Staten Island Ferry Hawks. Hopefully they'll win a game before the season ends!

If you knew Kepler rooted for a team, wouldn't you want to bean him by proxy?

Maybe they should stop crowding the plate. Bob Gibson or Nolan Ryan would keep plunking them (even when Ryan played for them...).
