strat-o-matic will shut down today to comply with the governor's order. if it's not on the truck today, your board game won't be showing up.

Geek me bought the computer version last week. First time I've played SOM in about 50 years.

Talk about a blast from the past.

How many people still have those Sports Illustrated board games? I never had them, but I used to play them at a friend's house a lot.

I have several Strat sets. IIRC 1920, 1975, and 1986.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

To The Strat-O-Matic Community,

Governor Cuomo’s language has evolved from his press junket on March 20th. The government is now allowing all businesses with only one employee in their work environment to stay open. We have adjusted our staff plan to have one of our warehouse managers at our facility so we maintain our physical product shipments in a safe, sterile environment. As our labor force will be greatly decreased at our Long Island headquarters, shipments may be a day or two slower than usual, but product will be shipped in a timely fashion.

As a result of this change, Fedex has opened up ground shipping to Strat-O-Matic customers again starting on Monday. Any ground orders already placed that are still at our warehouse will be shipped out.

Please note, the office is closed to customers and no products will be permitted to be picked up.

Thanks for your continued support during this insane moment. We are thrilled we can continue to bring both our physical and digital merchandise to our community to enjoy throughout the COVID crisis as people hunker down at home. We will update you with any additional changes in our work plans if that happens.

Strat-On,

Your friends at Strat-O-Matic

MLB opens up MLB.TV for free. Watch any game from 2018 or 2019 for free. No blackout issues.

Give me every game ever, you jerks.

I want to watch the entire 1962 Mets season.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

Every game was on WOR

You sure about that? I had no idea complete season coverage started that early. I thought there were plenty of games only on radio all the way up to the early 70s.

And yes, I believe many of the tapes have been destroyed for the same reason the early Dr. Who archives are so spotty. They literally re-used the tapes to save money. Tragedy.

Mookie would prefer all games from all time.

Whatever is in the library, please

Kep

Mets (WOR) and Yankees (WPIX) both did 162 in the early 60s (as did the Dodgers before they fled). The Yankees stopped in the late 60s/early 70s going down to 140 games or so while the Mets stayed at 162.

IIRC before NESN, when the Red Sox moved to WSBK (TV-38) in the late 70s it was the first time all Red Sox games were on TV.

Then came cable...

A few years back, MSG Network had a show on called something like From the MSG Vaults. It consisted of old Rangers and Knicks games, but only snippets. Because of the reason you stated. It was whatever they found that still existed on old tapes that had not been overwritten.

Tapes were very expensive in the 60s and 70s, and nobody considered the idea of 24-hour cable sports channels to bother worry about needing nonstop content.

Life. Don't talk to me about life.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

I wouldn't worry about Sale and Syndergaard needing Tommy John surgery because I can't see when baseball season can possibly start.

Even if there's a moderate lifting of restrictions on public gatherings sometime by the end of April, are we really at the point where we want 40,000 people packed side by side into a baseball stadium? Or even the players and other employees in the clubhouse? The minute one player tested positive for the virus the entire team would have to be quarantined. If that's the case, does MLB just play half a season?

I don't give a sh-t about this season (which is going to be fully canceled), I think this probably ends his career with the Mets. :(
