Still special thru 8.1. Top of the order up now.

And he gets the Nono to salvage the road trip.

Arrieta has become a true ace. Dam glad he plays for the Cubs.

The wife and I watched this game. I grew up a Twins fan (still am) but she's been a Cubbies fan ever since the Milwaukee Braves moved out of the state. She has converted me as far as NL teams to a Cubbies fan.

Being a baseball fan before Selig f*ed the game with interleague play, I am a Twins/Cubs fan. I would love to see a miracle run by both teams.

IIRC, it was John Harrington's idea. Salesmen Bud ran with it.

If Bud gets into the HoF ahead of Marvin Miller, I will puke.

I love inter-league play. Sure some series are duds but there are just as many teams in the AL that aren't of interest outside of rare circumstances as some of those in the NL, and series against the Cubs and Brewers are not at the expense of maintaining rivalries vs the ALC.

When MLB expands to 32

4 divisions of 4 in each league
Play your division 18 games
Play the other 3 divisions in your league 6 games
Play 1 division in the other league 6 games
Play 1 team in the other 3 divisions 6 games
for a total of 162 games

Play in your division the first month and last month of the season.

Only division winners make the playoffs, but with at least 18 games in your own division in the last month, many leads will not be safe.

Hopefully they'll contract rather than expand (I know, that will never happen) and shorten the season (ibid) and finally bury interleague play (ditto), but if they don't joe's suggestion is about the best we're going to do. MLB is so much less interesting and attractive now that the jackals completely run the show that it's almost as depressing as the NFL. Still, being in the midst of a pennant race, it's good to see they haven't destroyed the essence of the games themselves yet. Presumably, it's only a matter of time.

Sounds like the reinstatement of Shoeless Joe Jackson is all but announced by Manfred.
