Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!
I think the most "Little League" ending in the history of baseball just occurred in the NW LL Regional.
Idaho was up 8-6 on Washington in the bottom of the 6th, runners on first and second, zero outs. Ground ball to the shortstop. Rather than tagging the runner who actually had to run behind him to get out of the way, throw it to third, or throw it to second, he takes a couple easy shuffles and throws it to first. Problem is it went four feet over the first baseman's head.
On the other side of the field, there is now a runner at 3rd and another runner midway between 2nd and 3rd. Confusion ensues, the ball goes to 2nd, the runner on 3rd heads home and scores to make it 8-7, and a rundown begins on the runner between second and third. Idaho overthrows the man covering third and allows the runner to make it to 3rd, the batter now standing on 2nd. Idaho calls timeout but the umpires don't grant it. With no one covering home and , the runner on 3rd takes off and scores easily to tie the game at 8. Suddenly the cameras cut to Idaho's dugout rushing the field in celebration. Why? Washington's third base coach told the runner to go home but he didn't hear him, so he gave him a little push. Umpire calls him out on coach's interference, ending the game and Washington's season.
