MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Interesting game last night. With all the moves the managers are forced to make, NL syle baseball is the old time game. This series is going to be a close one throughout. Not the biggest baseball fan here-sometimes it just moves too slow for my taste (have never seen that happen in hockey), but last night's game was able to hold my interest.

Just plain interesting-two games with arguably the best hitting teams around-and they have produced a total of 8 runs in two tight pitching battles. Go figure. Oh-and please someone tell Tim McCarver to shut up.:)

boy, Texas had some pretty double plays last night. Nice to see them take one in St. Louis. Bet Prince Fielder is sorry he hit that home run in the ASG to give the Cards home field. ;) Nellie Cruz needs to step it up a little more, though.

Agreed on both counts.

For the Cardinal haters out there, this is a pretty good read. Normally these drive-by columns are pretty sanctimonious and a bit hard to read and I shy away. Admittedly I do not like the manager there, and think the fans are given more credit than waht they are due, so take my opinion on the piece for what it's worth, but the article makes a couple of points I find quite valid.

Yep. That pretty much nailed it.

Speaking of interesting fanbases...

it was fun to be a New Yorker this morning.

TLR also ensures they are not held accountable by blaming losses on outside things, like the scoreboard flashing too brightly, a questionable call by the umpire, or some inane rule that is never enforced. Deflect deflect deflect. Do I expect him to throw anyone under the bus? No, but let the players take some responsibility. It's no wonder some of them feel they don't have to step up after a loss - the manager doesn't seem to expect it.

Pujols, however, was sequestered in a player lounge inaccessible to reporters and said he was not told of their interest until more than 40 minutes later. Pujols said by then he had reached the players' parking lot with Molina and was committed to leaving with family.

Right, I'm sure he thought they wouldn't want to talk to him because he didn't factor into the game at all.

<a href="http://espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2011/story/_/id/7132804/world-series-2011-st-louis-cardinals-albert-pujols-unapologetic-skipping-media-game-2">Pujols Unapologetic - </a>from ESPN - LOTS of interesting quotes from other guys in this one.

"I guess the way you guys are ripping me off, I guess I need to stay tomorrow in the clubhouse until you guys decide to talk to me," Pujols said when asked whether he has a responsibility to talk to reporters. "My responsibility is to my God and my family, I don't have any responsibility to anybody else. And I try to do the best I can to represent the game of baseball. I do that. Sometimes you make a mistake. Do I feel I made a mistake last night? I don't think so. What can I do? I was waiting and nobody approached me. There is nothing I can do."

God and his family. That's it. Wonder what his employers and teammates think about that.

Why is the St Louis police department involved? ;)

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Well this is starting to get ugly, as Texas can't play defense suddenly. Bad call at 1B by the ump not withstanding.

Also, they have yet to do anything with the bats. Not a good combo.

Good to see that the Rangers finally arrived in Arlington. Better late than never, I guess.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

If the catcher is set up way inside, why wouldn't you hand or foot slide to the outside of the plate just in case?

Would of been easily safe at home with any effort or thought.
