MLB 2011 Part 1

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

It is a miracle that Radke pulled off what he did with the complete horse**** team the Twins had in '97.

I want to say that was the year the phrase, "Real like Radke" was coined. If it wasn't for Greg Maddux and the success the Braves enjoyed in the 90s, Brad Radke would easily be in the debate about greatest control pitchers.

Unfortunately, he was on a team that didn't have a shot at beating the Bad News Bears for an entire decade. I'll never forget him pitching with a torn labrum and a stress fracture in his shoulder during the postseason that year. Curt Schilling's bloody sock? Meh.

So now that the Red Sox season is over, who should I focus on in the playoffs? Detroit clinched, right? I'd like to see them go places. No clue about the NL, with the exception of the Phillies. Who looks to be playoff bound over there?

Philadelphia, Atlanta, Arizona, Milwaukee
Detroit, New York, Tampa Bay/Boston, Texas

This is why you don't let Bill Simmons borrow your laptop.

I'm not a Twins fan but I still remember that too - that was hard-****ing-core.

Mo now stands alone with 602 regular season saves. Trevor Hoffman is in the rearview mirror.

And because of that stellar control, he gave up about 3 solo HR a game!

How truly great Rivera is (and eventually "was"), will always be dampened in my mind when someone brings this up. The "save" may be second only to the "win" in the most overrated stat in sports.

The Yankees never return the powerhouse status they have now without him.

I see what you did there. ;)

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

That wasn't my intent. Last night was a fluke. They beat Toronto last week by a big score and everyone thought "Oooooh whew. Back to normal." Fully expect more of the same this week. I have tickets to Wednesday night's last regular season home game. And it will most likely be the last home game till April. What a disappointing September. This is what happens when I actually believe the hype. *sigh*

Yep I'm with you 100%. If they do what they did last night for the next two games I MIGHT start to feel better.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Is that strike zone box right on the plate new on ESPN, or have I not been playing attention? I just noticed it last night. It's kind of annoying.
