Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

The Fish's new stadium opens next year I think. So they will sell out soon. :)

The Yankees game last night was pretty sparse in the late innings.

They could give tickets away and still not sell out :p

Crowd looks pretty sparse in Tampa today for the Rays/Angels game.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Ah, baseball season is back. Sold out stadiums everywhere.

Meh, that stadium peaked on January 3rd of this year.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Going to Yanks games Tues and Weds the next two weeks, with more probably later next week. Gotta love being a student in the NYC area!

I'm probably going to the Yanks-Toronto series in Toronto in 2 weeks. Probably the only perk of going to grad school in Buffalo is an hour and 15 minute drive to Toronto.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Manny Ramirez to retire. MLB notified him of a drug issue, and Manny responded by retiring...

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

So not only is Manny a first class jerk, but he's also borderline retarded and a coward. "Great" hitter though

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I can't help but wonder how many takes it took to get Joe Mauer to seem like he has the slightest bit of personality in that Head and Shoulders commercial.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Am I the only one who is bored with the Yankees being on national tv? Yawn.

They want the ratings, so they broadcast Yanks, Sox and Phillies, with occasional stops in Chicago, St. Louis and LA. A game between the Twins and Royals just isn't going to pull the same number. I'd like the Sox not to be on Fox or the ESPN Sunday game because that's one less game NESN gets to broadcast and I like listening to Don and Jerry...Tim McCarver and the ESPN guys, not so much.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I don't want to see the Twins/Royals for the national game. I can already see them locally. I do think that MLB should bargain in a rule in the next TV deal that teams can only be on a certain number of times per year. I think the NBA has that, I forget.

Since Fox only does Saturday games they could have any one team on 5 times. So they could cover 15 of their 26 Saturdays with one of NYY, BOS, PHI if they wanted. But it still leaves room for some other clubs.

ESPN has baseball up to 3 nights a week I think. But its the Sunday night game that would have to abide by the limit, since there is no other games in that time slot (like FOX sat.).

Oh of course that is the reason. I am just bored with it.

I doubt the NBA has that because every game involves the Lakers, Heat or Celtics.

Sunday night would be the only time they would follow that.
