Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Dunno. Haven't watched a second of the series. I can't stand that king of the ********s Ron Darling. I did just flick it over there and man... i don't think yankee stadium could be emptier in January...

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Did they ever show the right field bleachers late in the game? I just got a quick glimpse, but I was pretty sure the wastes of humanity in the front row didn't make it to the end of the game.

Not only was it a bad call, but it also sets a precedent on any play like that that fans can do whatever to the fielder going back which could get very dangerous. I especially liked Ms. Manychins on the left attempting the A-Rod fag slap on Cruz.

That guy in the second row is a real winner! Lip readers will have fun.

Holy crap, is that you at a Yankee game? Oh wait, no, that guy's positively anorexic by comparison to you. That's my bad.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

No, but what I'm getting at is that Tampa has a crappier market than the twins. Who seem to have fans from western wisconsin, all of minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas. So really the twins are drawing from a bigger market than I think they are given credit for. And MSP isn't that small of a market to begin with.
Relax, man, I'm not insulting Twins fans, I'm just saying that, strictly speaking, DFW is a bigger media market than MSP, and that I don't think Fox will really be panicking about (as I said) a World Series with the fifth and sixth biggest in the country.

(That, and I find "ZOMG Fox must really hate this potential World Series matchup!" jokes to be played out, and not all that funny to start with.)

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Eh. We're still talking about the fifth and sixth biggest media markets in the country. SF-Tex wouldn't be nearly as bad for them as, say, Cin-Min.
Granted, both MN WS titles were won pre-strike, but both of them had very solid ratings. To illustrate how far baseball has fallen in viewers, the last time a WS game rated as highly as the lowest-rated one involving MN (game one vs Atlanta) was in 2002's WS (Anaheim and San Francisco).

No they're not panicking, but I'm not exactly sure DFW's the 5th or 6th biggest baseball media market. The Rangers have no national appeal and the Cowboys will always be king down there, with UT and high school football not far behind. While I'm sure Dallas fans would like to see the Rangers win, I think they'd rather watch a Cowboys preseason game over a Rangers world series game, all else being equal.

So what you're saying is that San Francisco is a good TV draw? I think that was my point. :p

(Change what I originally said to "Cincinnati against Tampa" if you want. This isn't about Minnesota, so you can all stop getting all "Eastern Bias" defensive about it.)

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Box score

Attendance at Yankee Stadium: 49,977
Capacity: 52.325

The Yankees say this is a sell out.

If you want to go this afternoon, tickets are cheap...

StubHub had 12 for 1 penny apiece.

MSP is 15th, and Tampa/St. Pete is 13th. So, our market is smaller. People in Tampa simply don't go to games. The horrendous place they play in is probably one reason.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Letting Lee walk is about the only poor decision the Phillies have made in the last five years. I would kill to have their front office.

You mean other than signing Howard to a ridiculous extension that will inevitably handcuff their payroll?

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I love the fact that the Phillies have a pitcher named Bastardo. :D

Also, when Huff scored from first... it looked like he needed an Oxygen tank.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Is Sergio Romo in a Beard Off with Brian Wilson or is he going as Fidel Castro to the Giants Halloween Party?
