Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

This one has been generally cooler. Expect many days in the 60s and 70s throughout the whole summer. If you're lucky in August you'll get a week or two with 80s. One of the toughest things about my college life was that I never lived in Duluth during the summer. When the weather is good it is spectacular.

That actually sounds a lot like Marquette when you put it that way. 70's I can handle. 60's... OK, if it's sunny. It's this barely breaking 50 stuff that's starting to get to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to Marquette. But then again I haven't lived in Duluth for a summer. :(

It's funny watching you acclimate to Duluth. :D

While I haven't lived up there for a summer, I used to have a former college roommate who lived up there, and used to visit often, so I have a general idea. The summers are cooler, and the winters (generally) are supposed to be warmer, but we all know that's just a myth we Minnesotans tell the people who are thinking of living there. ;)

And wait until tourist season. :D

I grew up in a resort town. I can handle this tourist thing, especially now that I'm old enough to go to the bar after work.

Tornado season!

Tornado spotted near Chez Rube, and moving fast, to the northeast. Noah-like rain right now everywhere else.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Yeah that tornado was probably within a mile or so of my place. Luckily it stayed NW of me. Then it went NE and end up devastating North Minneapolis.

And now that the storm has passed (and after 90 minutes of constant coverage of the storm), apparently we're going to look at pictures of the damage for the next hour (it's already been 30 minutes of pics). Whoopdeefriggingdo.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I don't know what else has been said in this thread and I don't really care but I need to complain about this again. I am sick and tired of local news taking over their channels for weather updates. Kare11 never showed a minute of today's hockey game. That is ridiculous in this day and age when people have smart phones, internet, the weather channel and the Local channels have multiple channels (normally including one dedicated to weather). I had 2 hours of dvr'd shows on tuesday be nothing but weather updates and now a whole hockey game missed because of it. This is just stupid.

They were showing the game online, but yeah, I was angry enough that they didn't have a split screen or something that I sent an email (their phones were busy). And that was before they showed an hour+ of photos of damage, all from their Facebook page. Yeah, you read that right.

I'm currently arguing on twitter with QuickFacts over Kare 11's coverage. I do wonder if one of the other Kare 11 Digital channels had the game. I should have checked. If the game was carried on 11.2, I can't really complain. Ok, just checked @Kare11 on twitter and saw this:
You can watch the Canucks-Sharks playoff game on KARE 11.2. On digital cable, Comcast 216 or 249, Charter 391 and Mediacom 111.
I have to back off my complaint even though I don't directly get 11.2 on dishnetwork, I could have used my digital antenna to watch the game.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I didn't get any tornado fun today, but running to my car was like running through a waterfall. That was some CRAZY rain!
