Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

NWS is still saying anything from two inches to a foot for the metro. Regardless, it is going to be cold this week.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Half a foot is looking like a safe bet in the twin cities. If one of the forecast model solutions materializes with the deformation zone setting up here, a foot or more is possible (one solution has it over the twin cities, while another one puts it further SE around Red Wing / Rochester). Whatever happens, Saturday night through Monday night will feel like mid-January with subzero lows and single digit highs (if we get that warm).

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I've always wondered how long it would take me to get home from work if I drove 5-10 mph the whole way. The answer? An hour and a half. First snow "storm" of the year during rush hour.

Excuse me. Is this where I am supposed to come to complain about the weather?

8-12 inches expected starting Friday night until Sunday morning. Windchills waay below zero. Mother nature decided not to winter in Florida afterall.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Head weather terrorist Paul Douglas has increased his prediction to 1-2 feet of snow for the metro area, with 2-5' deep drifts by Saturday night. According to the fish-wrap west.

Comparisons to Halloween '91? They're not pulling any punches with this one. Which means we'll probably get 3 inches.

I prefer calling it the Red Star and Sickle, but yes, 12-16" is what he's saying. It's not like he has any different information from anybody else. All the maps come from the National Weather Service.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press says 11-13, or 12-14 in the same story...

St. Paul could see 13 inches of snow Saturday, dangerous road conditions expected

"I highly recommend that people don't plan to be out and about tomorrow," said Cooper. "It's really going to be dangerous to be traveling outside. It would not shock me if we were to see significant impacts to even the major interstates."

The NWS has issued a winter storm warning for much of central and southeastern Minnesota — including the Twin Cities — and western Wisconsin. The warning is in effect from 9 tonight to 6 a.m. Sunday.

Smaller snowfall totals are expected in the west metro, and western Wisconsin could see the highest snowfall — about 12 to 14 inches, along with possible freezing rain, said Cooper.

I think this is much worse though...

Complicating matters for drivers Saturday will be low visibility from blowing and drifting snow. Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph are expected, according to the NWS.

The blowing snow will make reports of accurate snowfall totals difficult, Cooper said.

Frigid temperatures are also on the way, with lows dropping well below zero Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Wind chills this weekend could be in the minus 20 to minus 35 range.

With that said, I'm having people over tomorrow, to watch TV and drink! Free Beer (until what I have in the fridge runs out)

I have beer, vodka, Kahlua, Everclear, half and half, Coke, and tonic. I should be good...

I was gonna say, I'm still headed over. * the weather. I'll probably pick up some Captain, as Captain Cokes are good sipper drinks. I figure if anything, it should be an interesting drive.

I have a couple new bourbons to try as well.
