Minnesotans Arguing About the Weather IV: Niño or Niña, My Joints Stopped Trying

Less than 30 minutes from Hawaii now.

Mayor of Honolulu was telling people that if they had to drive the wrong way on a one way street to go ahead.

Woke up to this news. I’m getting to see Al Jazeera coverage since it’s the only English news channel in this hotel and i cannot understand a lick of danish, despite knowing Swedish, German and some Dutch

The worst part of this whole thing was the media coverage. They looked at anything to show a disaster- especially hyping when water receded. Instead of taking about the data they were being shown that it may not be that bad.

By the time it hit, everything was evacuated. And in reality, the evacuation zone was pretty small- we face the water on our side of this complex, but the zone ended at the road where this complex ends- just one block. So they never expected more than a couple of feet of flooding and added a very easy and healthy buffer addition.

And that was a good thing, as it takes barely any water to put someone down and wash them away.

But seeing the barrage of the same thing over and over as breaking news for 8 or so hours… I see some people ignoring the warnings when it’s really bad. Just like hurricanes.
