Minnesota Women's Hockey 2025-26

Apparently you have discounted the very real possibility that those players reached out to her, not the other way around and taking players who have entered the portal is not "poaching" or did that mean MJ poached Watts?
And Eden and Compher. Not that he did it illegally, but Eden was committed to Princeton I believe, but Ivy’s didn’t have a season during Covid, so she ended up at Wisconsin. Compher was in the portal after her Sr year at BU maybe????

I give Heise some extra credit for being a player on teams where the lines weren't necessarily planned around her. She spent much of her career playing with Boreen and Skaja, decent players, but not elite. She had the ability to make others better. She didn't play in as many big games as some because the program was in decline by then. I remember the final game in a couple of her seasons where she scored to put the team ahead, but they ultimately didn't hold the lead. UM had some players of similar repute who would often disappear entirely in such games.

Since you mention Boreen, I would like to take this opportunity to say I thought she improved more, and more consistently, throughout her career than any other Gopher I saw play.

(not saying she was elite, just talking about improvement :))

As best I know, Eden may never have even enrolled at Princeton, was certainly never 'on a roster' there, and so never needed to 'enter the portal'.

Compher decided to not return to BU after having graduated, and while she was 'centralized' with the 2022 national/Olympic team. She describes her decision process here:

Frost is officially out. A nationwide search will be held for a new head coach.

Statement from Coyle: "Brad is a great coach and an even better person, which is why today is extremely difficult. This decision was made after a review of the program on and off the ice. We expect to contend at the highest level in every aspect of women's college hockey, and right now we are not doing that."

If Courtney Kennedy isn't hired in 3.2 seconds somebody isn't doing their job
I have plenty of respect for Kennedy. But I'd rather have someone with WCHA experience and more of a background recruiting the state. If it were someone who's had a long track record of being a good head coach without those parameters, I'd take it. But I'm a no on Kennedy for this particular job.

If Muzzy wants the job, Minny is crazy for not going with her.
I'm just going with my opinion on this but I feel the Muzzinator considers what she's built and achieved here at Ohio State her baby and I hope the roots she and her family have set down here are deep, too deep to uproot her family. Besides a bigger barn what can Minnesota offer her that Ohio State can't?

Money….. Minnesota will spend it….

She wants a new challenge. She can't play the underdog/no respect card anymore. People move all the time, Sierra and the kids will adjust. It's her alma matter for heavens sake.

Nicole Haase says she's hearing Natalie Darwitz and Bethany Brausen as candidates. I'm someone who doesn't believe Muzz will say yes. I would like Boom May and Shari Dickerman to be considered, but with most of Minnesota's coaching openings under Coyle it seems he knows who he wants.
