Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)
All the frustration they experienced yesterday should give them some extra determination to improve their on their 1.6% shooting percentage if the two teams play a rematch in the NCAA quarterfinal. And speaking of shooting percentages, in the last 6 games it's a dismal 3.8% (9 goals on 238 shots). No matter how far they advance in the tournament, it's something for all returning team members to work on during the off-season.
The odd thing to me is that, on the offensive end they are doing what they need to more often then not. EVery team has stretches where they don't get bounces, have rebounds go the "wrong way" and just miss tip-ins. But the whole season has been like that for MN. It is hard to see them doing things wrong, or different from past years (mostly, not always) on the O but they just are not getting the payoffs.
I've been dismayed for a long time this season by the low percentage of shots we are scoring on and the high percentage of shots our opponents have been scoring on. For the season our shooting percentage is .087 and so is our opponents'.
This is a stat that has created all sorts of problems for us SO FAR this year.
Here are this year's teams in order of current pairwise:

Here is the UM program history by season since the NCAA era began from worst to best. Normally we score at a much higher percentage than our opponents, look at the bottom of the chart and see the differential the last few seasons compared to no differential this season.
