Saw it brought up on GPL...So, any chance other than slim and none that Cameranesi makes an appearance tomorrow?

Slim and none is what I've been hearing from my not perfect sources. I'm less hopeful than I was a couple weeks ago.

So fill me in, new to the forum, but definitely not to the games. I'm a locker sponsor, and usually sit behind the S goal.
What is "GPL"?

D2D already answered but I should know that some on here may not know about Gopher Puck Live.

Turns out there was a WCHA alumni game at Ridder last night. If you are wondering why you didn't know that before the answer is simple. The WCHA kept is a secret, not telling anyone until they posted photos after the game. No, I am not kidding. Them boys in Edina is sumkinda geniusouses.

Well, They are who they appeared to be for much of the season. Despite dominating UMD for the entire game they could not get an extra puck in the net. The effort was there as they flew around the ice generating decent scoring chances but tips were just missed, rebounds went "the wrong way" and Rooney stood tall. I felt with the way they were playing they really should have won but Stalder didn't miss one of the very few chances UMD could muster in OT. It was a very good game, it just didn't end the correct way. :)

Special teams, the power play in particular, have really not been very good lately. They have gotten a contribution of 2 assists all year from #11 and #15 as seniors. #7, as a former Ms Hockey winner, has 8 points this year. I continue to be amazed at the different ways the defensemen find to turn the puck over, especially #9. They have worn out #2 trying to cover up the mistakes. #37 has had a roller coaster season and even as she has played much better lately, it is still an uneasy feeling watching her handle routine saves considering the number of soft goals given up this season.

Given all that, this team still has a 25-7-5 record which is below their standards but what does that say about what they have done over the last 5 years? Probably that we as Gopher fans have been very spoiled these last few years.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

I thought that they played very well. For the number of shifts that everyone played last night, it is easy to pick out some turnovers; those will happen against a quality opponent. I can't fault the effort, and what more can we ask of them? Many of them had chances that they "could" have buried, but in the split second of truth, they couldn't get the puck to go. Hockey is like being a batter in baseball, where even the greatest fail more often than not.

I liked the Minnesota team I watched yesterday very much, and I haven't always felt that way this season. :)

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

All the frustration they experienced yesterday should give them some extra determination to improve their on their 1.6% shooting percentage if the two teams play a rematch in the NCAA quarterfinal. And speaking of shooting percentages, in the last 6 games it's a dismal 3.8% (9 goals on 238 shots). No matter how far they advance in the tournament, it's something for all returning team members to work on during the off-season.

I'd agree, they played well enough just not as well as we have come to expect. We are spoiled. The lack of scoring a D turnovers were just atypical from the previous years.

I feel pretty good about our chances next week in the rematch. There were turnovers, sure, burmt Duluth is a fast team. Overall, I thought the Gophers were the better team. If they play like they did last night and still don't win, you just have to tip your hat to UMD.

hopefully they all live in a neighborhood with a lot of 10-12 year olds they can practice shooting the puck into the net with

I too liked the way they played, and thought they were the better team
sometimes the better team doesn't win
they will get a rematch, and that will be the game that counts the most

They have the capability of being more than a one an done and moving on in the tournament. A chip and a chair so to speak.

There's no way anyone should be counting out UM. I see UM in the F4. I just don't think UMD is deep enough hang on even with Rooney. If Cornell upsets Clarkson, UM is in the final. UW played Cornell twice and dominated the games, there's no reason why UM would not do the same. Clarkson will be a tough out, UW played them also and the games were pretty wide open and more even than the Cornell games, though that was early in the season.

I'm kind of with you on this one Timothy A. Gophers have shown themselves to be vulnerable this year, but as 6th seeds go, I would think we are pretty darn scary

For me, the way to describe Clarkson is "FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND".

I think it was probably interesting for folks with other rooting interests to have seen UMD and Minnesota on a free stream. Hard to explain unless you see it yourself how well Minnesota can control the puck and get themselves into position for scoring chances...Only to not convert on them. Some of that is goaltending but some of the blame is on them for just not converting. It's been an issue all season long and could be the reason that UMD hangs with them and defeats them.
