"Enrolled and doing well" doesn't have anything to do with the "five year rule".
I am wondering if there is something to do with her particular (unusual) set of circumstances that allows her a sixth year of time to complete her four years of eligibility. She was a frosh in 2010-2011, right? So her five years should have run out in spring of 2015. There are people who have been given a sixth year - a QB at Oklahoma who had consecutive ACL tears in August comes to mind, whose name I can't come up with at the moment - but it is my understanding that to get a sixth year, the player has to have lost two years to "circumstances beyond their control"; choosing to take a year off to play in the Olympics wouldn't qualify as "beyond her control".
I'm guessing there is something about the awarding of a sixth year that I don't understand, some set of circumstances I am unaware of. And I like to understand. So I was/am looking for the explanation, and was wondering if anyone had seen such an explanation.
