Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

Good luck to the other half of the maroon and gold alliance
Thanks, Grant, and same to you. While both maroon and gold teams need to take care of business today, it would be really fun to meet in the final!

An east and west alliance. Gross. I'd like to see Christmas colors play Sunday. Who doesn't like Christmas?

Vikings tweeted a shout out to Gophers for tonight's game!

I like GWH way more than I like the Vikings, but I think I'm a bit in the minority on that. That's cool they did that!

Go Gophers!!!

Come what may this weekend, I hope the players have a great time and enjoy the ride. You've given us another special season, and I hope all of your hard work is rewarded.

Go Gophers!

I hope Sarah Potomak can get to sleep tonight, we'd like her rested for Sunday

You guys notice that Caitlyn Reilly was dressed tonight

Could be a function of how many they're allowed to dress for the Frozen Four, and a reward for her playing so well all season? An "inside source" told me she's done playing for the season.

Her goal made Sport Center (as part of a little story on Amanda Kessel.)

You have to watch the video in this story! Not for Brads usual comments but for Amanda Kessel's face. It appears as if she is trying desperately to look all serious and solemn but failing miserably at it. She cannot wipe the grin off no matter how hard she tries - that is a display of pure unadulterated happiness. We know the pain and struggle behind it but even if we didn't we could sure see the joy there.

The addition of Kessel totally out of the blue at the trading deadline was obviously a game changer, and for that I am personally bitter (though it was good for her to get her life back). UW was an even match for UM until that point. UM outplayed UW last night.

To be fair, W beat M with Kessel in the lineup. Yeah, she is a big addition but I don't think it was as much as you imply. I thought last nights game was just like 4 of previous 5 in that it could easily gone either way. I don't know if it was the lousy video or the the Badgers really did play differently than when I have seen them in person this year; this game was more open and missing some of the chippy stuff. Nobody got any undeserved goals so I guess M did outplay W, but not by much.

I'd buy tickets to a game 7 for all the marbles if it were possible. Its a shame a team as good as the Badgers have been the last few years have so little hardware to show for it. As a womens hockey fan I wish a better outcome for them - as a Gopher fan I am very OK with these results.

I am worried about Minnesota's D coughing up the puck against bc. I also don't know why but the 2nd line which had been playing really well seems to be just a bit off.

On the positive side I thought Williamson had her best game as a Gopher.

Not sure that the addition of Kessel was "a game changer", but it's possible. Some think that Minnesota may have beaten Wisconsin even had Kessel not come back, but its also possible that Wisconsin was better than Minnesota, before the addition of Kessel, and that is definitely a possibility. A part of me feels badly for Wisconsin fans, as their program has been good enough that they probably deserve some hardware, but as a person who was raised up watching the Vikings, I can sort of relate and so I don't feel THAT badly. UW's had their time at the top, and its probably a good chance that they will win a few more Natl Titles in the next decade, if not as soon as next year even as I've heard that they have quite a stellar class coming into the program. I'll be cheering for the Gophers to beat them, of course, and will be fine with having to settle for feeling kind of bad about it, but either way I'm sure both programs will continue to do very well for many years to come.

I didn't know what to expect considering the possibility of the Gophers meeting BC in the Title game, but after seeing how their game went vs the first Top 5 ranked team they've played all season, I'm far less worried now. Seems that BC's scedule has been so weak that when they finally had to play a high quality team, they got caught off gaurd. They are a good enough team that they were able to recover and take it down in OT, and after that game BC might be prepared for the Gophers and not get caught so off gaurd, but I believe and/or hope that Minnesota is better than Clarkson and hopefully are much better than Clarkson. But you are right, and if the Gophers do jump out to a lead, the D coughing it up just might be what allows BC to get back in the game and keep it close, but if anything, that might make it more exciting? Should be a great game, one for the history books probably.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

I'm certainly less worried about BC's power play than I was 24 hours ago.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

I'm with you. I feel like Pannek has been slumping a little bit.

rewind to game #2 at Ridder a few weeks ago

see the Badger thread, they have a similar complaint about some of their players
when two good teams tangle, it is likely some players names don't appear on the score sheet

I keep thinking back to 2012/13 and a snakebit Sarah Davis, and for that matter Kelly Terry
the good news is the Gophers won without Brandt, Cameranesi, or Pannek scoring a goal
if you knew up front those three would only account for an assist among them
what would you have thought the Gophers chance of winning would be?
