Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

The Gophers picked up another win this morning. The "powers that be" apparently decided that the Hall of Fame Game will indeed count in the regular-season records (though still as a non-conference game).
Thought about just editing my previous post, but it was easier to see this way. The U. confirmed the change: HOF Game Stats Reinstated

At the IIHF Women's U-18 tournament.

U.S. beats the Russians 6-0 on Saturday afternoon (DETAILS). U.S. vs. Canada tonight at 6:30 in the final round robin game. 11 or 12 future Gophers on the ice depending on who gets the start in net for the Americans.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

OK, I get that and that criticism seems totally fair.

Except that I am totally not any one at all and that I absolutely do not have any information of any sort that anyone with half a brain would consider.

I am just gossiping. And I refuse to believe that Johnson or Idalski or anyone of importance thinks that what I have to offer is of any significance at all.

Why would anyone who actually cares consider that my gossip about her arm hurts is of any significance whatsoever?

I mean, REALLY?

Yes, really. My main concern is that, if that breakfast becomes a conduit for information that Brad Frost wants to stay private becoming public, he'll think twice about doing it again.

then keep your trap shut, MBTC wouldn't know and in fact if you people didn't confirm what he devulged, nobody would know whether to believe it or not. so you people are more guilty than MBTC.

Secondly, the fruits of a tactical advantage have already been realized, anybody who has seen her play had to realize something was wrong, Johnson isn't blind AND stupid. I don't think I've ever seen her be as small of a factor in a WI/MN game as in the recent series in Madison, So did WI suddenly catch up to her? apparently they thought so but found out differently and got there rear end handed to them in Grand Forks. And if she doesn't play against OSU, what are they supposed to think? As soon as she hits the ice and see what I saw as she walked at Ridder this weekend, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with her walk, so what's left? Must be upper body somewhere. You don't have to be a genius to figure this stuff out.

if it walks and talks like a duck, it's a duck
it sure looked like late in the game on Sunday Potomak was at center, Pannek at wing

Didn't they have too many players (23) suited up for this game to count?
Excluding goaltenders, Minnesota had 20 players suited up and St. Cloud State had 19. The normal limit is 18.

That said, I learned third- (or fourth-)hand that both teams apparently thought they had pre-approval to play with the extra players and still have the stats count. Then, after the game, it was said, "No, that game won't count."

My guess (and that's all it is) is that the Gophers appealed, and that appeal was approved.

"At this point, there are so many unknowns in regards to (her playing)," Minnesota coach Brad Frost said. "This is a step in the progression with her rehab."

Sure, they are only ranked 3rd, get swept by their arch rival, Brandt is injured and Frosty pushes the panic button and Kessel comes to the rescue. Nice ace in the hole. Maybe the Badgers can bring All WCHA defender McKeough back to counter this.

I hope whatever she does she does not screw up her availability to play in the Olympics, those Canucks have to go down.

Hats off once again to Grand Forks and Brad E. Schlossman. There is one reporter in the country that covers women's hockey like it is a real thing!

Not to take away from the USCHO people, but I'm saying that's a little different.

Wow, great news that she's made so much progress. And for fans, how exciting to learn that she even has a chance to play again. The fact that she had a "great semester academically" is very encouraging also.

Apparently Menefee is no longer with the team. Shame.

I am very happy to hear that she is academically healthy, that is great news. "Skating with" is a very long way from playing in a game though. As much as i would love to see her again I don't know if the risk is worth it. I would guess it would take time to get the NCAA to approve her return so the skunk fans can stop whining now and save it for later if needed.

That is sad. She seems like a great kid and a very good player. On the first line she never got the attention or the credit she deserved but she was a big part of the success of that line. I hope she is going to be OK.

I thought Arlan handled this very well in Wednesday Women today and yes, I hope she's going to be OK too.

I thought Arlan handled this very well in Wednesday Women today and

so I wasn't the only one thinking that with Brandt & McMillen out of the lineup Sunday, & Leveille sitting out after the 1st, "so this is what next year is going to be like"

I was hoping I'd see a 14 in uniform, I guess that's not to be, but the possibility of 8 ... :)
I'm going to predict we see her in uniform this year

imagine the reaction from BC supporters if BC had 12 future recruits playing in a US/Canada U18 game. :)

It also has to be making a certain poster's (HB) blood boil at commitments the Gopher's staff has the next few years. :D

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

I thought Maryanne was a great Gopher.

I am saddened that her career ends in anything other than a senior night celebration of her fabulous contributions.

Happy trails.

Honestly seeing TWELVE for the Gophers is pretty depressing. I wouldn't complain if it was BC obviously but geez, this can't be good for the growth of the college game.
