Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

How friggin bush league is KC that they renovate the ballpark and design it so that if there is a wind it blows waterfall spray into the camera lenses?

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Justin's HR yields one run, unfortunately, his creative baserunning winds up costing the team one, probably two, given how things unfolded.:(

And yeah, KC should have gotten some input from TV folks because those fountains screwing up the TV lens is not a new problem.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Watching the Royals play defense this series has been painful.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Here comes the Royals' bullpen. Things could get exciting now.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Add Denard to the list of guys who could use a day off -- bases loaded against a pitcher who is struggling, ahead in the count, and he swings at something out of the zone. The Twins are taking all of this talk of just winning series too literally.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I didnt read back, but if people are taking shots at Cuddy (I believe DL called him the "Rally Killer") I will say without a doubt he gets my vote for team MVP for the month of April.

Keep a close eye on what Cuddyer does with a runner at 1st and less than 2 out. I'd bet 75% of the at bats result in a GIDP.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

This team certainly has a hard time hitting with men in scoring position and an easy time when they're not. Hitting should be the strength of this team so the awesome defensive work is a major bonus IMO. Pitching has been about what I expected.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

This team absolutely sucks at hitting with RISP, though.
Wasn't it last year that they had very good numbers for that stat with a lot of the same guys? Hopefully it is a case of some guys not yet finding their groove, rather than everybody losing their stones over the winter.

That sounds high, given he usually strikes out if there is also a guy on 3rd.:p

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I'm going to copy my post from GPL:

Honestly, we're not doing that bad with RISP. We're batting 0.251, good enough for 7th in the AL. We also have the second most runs with RISP and are ranked 5th in OBP with RISP.

7th in the AL is not a good ranking, particularly for a team whose strength is supposed to be offensive production.

Given the number of guys the Twins have put on base so far this season, this doesn't surprise me.
and are ranked 5th in OBP with RISP.
Yeah, a lot of these are walks to load the bases - where the team then promptly ****s down its leg. :p

ARM - I don't know what they did with RISP last year - but they were either near or at the top with the bases loaded (think they hit well over .300).

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Whats the VORP value of our starting 9? :D

I also like the WAR (wins above replacement) stat.
