Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

-This may sound really corny, but I swear there were moments during the game where it felt as if I was watching replays of the '65 Twins. The stadium is brand new, but it looks classic. Throw in the throwbacks and it was beautiful to behold. I'm serious.

Would you like me to get you some International Coffee so you can talk about your feelings? :p

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

My parents told me that the HR sign isn't impressive in person during the day either. Could barely see it moving, only really saw the strobing lights going around the outline of Minnesota.

On the subject of Wild players, one of my friends sold a Maserati to Boogaard last week. Just picked it up yesterday I guess.

Never understood the allure of a Maserati, but am glad to hear that the local hockey studs were out and about.

I'd like to see a Twins game this year at the new place, but I like my baseball like I like my girls: cheap and entertaining. ;)

How the eff does Boogaard fit in a Maserati?

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Talked to my friend that's going with to the game tomorrow, he thinks we should take the train into downtown, because he heard that parking was $15 by Target Field, not to mention the pain in the *** of driving downtown. We're thinking that the best way to do it is to take the Northstar train, since there is a station in Fridley, not far from where I live and work. Has anyone taken it? Is it going to be busy before the game? How early should we get to the train station to make sure we get to Target Field with plenty of time before the game? Any suggestions from people that have taken it or not would be great. Thanks!

Anyone that thinks driving downtown Mpls is a pain should probably stick to Litchfield or Waseca. It's about as easy to navigate as any city I've been in. That's not to say a train isn't a good idea, but don't avoid the city because it's hard to get around, because it isn't.

I do agree with that, I don't mind driving downtown, but we're just thinking that with all of the people down there for the game and having to pay for parking it would just be easier to take the train.

Interesting note. My son and I took the bus in from St. Paul Midway area. My wife drove in from the roughly the same spot about 10-15 minutes before us with her sister & Brother-in-law, it was a weird scheduling thing, I had to wait for the rat to get home from school and he was able to sneak out earlier than he expected or they would have waited for us.

Anyway, we got to the Plaza at almost the same time.

It is really easy. I came in from the NE Metro, took 4th Street to Hennipen to Washington yesterday and it was typical traffic for DT Minneapolis on a work day. I noticed west of Target Field, there are a lot of meters and "1 Hour Parking" only until 6 PM. Not sure how long that will last, but it probably won't last too long. I parked too far away 10th and Washington North. But Cuzzy's was a good stop after and I only paid $4 to park.

10th and Washington is a pretty long walk. I think I'd rather park the other direction, closer to the dome, but it is probably a wash between the 2 options. If I drove down there, I'd end up parking in one of the ramps, which is going to be damm expensive. But I looked at the Northstar train schedule, and it isn't very accomodating. They are adding one additional train to get to the game, but no extra trains after it is over, and the last train leaves Target Field at 6:15, so staying later for dinner and drinks would have to end by 6. Probably not a big deal for the noon game, but I still don't really like how that works.

A lot of ramps were full by the time I got there though, I probably wouldn't park there again. It was too far. But for $4-$5 and it was a nice day it was ok. Some people after at Cuzzy's were telling me about 12 hour meters on 2nd Avenue north of Washington where it was 50¢ a half hour.

Parking downtown is $15 for event parking in Ramp C...NorthStar Commuter Rail is $8 a person...my coworker wants to take NorthStar, I want to drive and see what we can find.

Well for an actual night game there are far more parking options that are going to be cheap...the weekday game screws things up with commuters and business travelers. For example, City Center parking (4 blocks from target field) will be $5 after 4pm and all day sunday...

Yep, I will drive down for night/weekend games and bus it for weekday day games.

Isn't that the ramp that we have already proven that my truck does not fit in?
