Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

I was just a few years too young to catch nolan ryan. Randy Johnson I've followed since Ken Griffey Jr. first came out on the SNES. :D

I only caught the tail end of Nolan's career, although I was at the Dome the night that Rickey Henderson broke the steals record and Nolan pitched his 7th no-hitter. :eek: (they announced the feats over the PA)

Funny thing was, the Twins were in a pitching duel with whoever they were facing, and I was at the game with my French class (along with some foreign exchange students) and they didn't understand the beauty of a) the pitching duel b) the significance of the record broken/no-hitter despite them being fans of (and understanding) baseball. :mad:

Christ if not Lee, at least Oswalt...
If there's little to no chance of retaining Lee, I think they should go after Oswalt if for no other reason than the fact his contract runs through next season (granted, he's also making a fairly steep $15 mil per year, but you gotta spend to get a top of the line starter). This would also grant MN a two-season window of making a run at a title.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

What would really help the Twins in the playoffs is if they actually played everyday.

The Twins have a much better chance of beating a #3 and 4 starter in the playoffs than the #1 or 2.

The entire playoffs should really only take a month. 9 days for each series (if 7 games).

For the record, that was sarcasm.

Now, onto more important things, how much is that and where can I get it?! :D

It would help from a starters perspective, but after a couple of those < 2 inning starts by aces like Blackburn and Slowey, the healthiest arm in the bullpen would probably be attached to Rick Stelmaszek. Gardy tends to manage in the playoffs like every game is Game 7 anyway, doing things he doesn't do during the season (like the year when Johan was pitching out of the pen and he brought him in for 3 straight games vs the Angels.) The Twins aren't configured to win in the postseason and Gardy doesn't manage to win 11 post-season games.

Nice camerawork on the hot blonde. Talk about MAJOR league....baseball. ;)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Dear Mr. Bill Smith,

Are you convinced yet that you need to make the Cliff Lee trade happen? Because we are.

Sincerely,

The entire Twins fanbase

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

It's early but the automatic division title is now in doubt.

So much for beating up on the NL to make fans think we are contenders.

Hey now...There are 162 games in a.....

Where are all those people saying that now? Where are the people happy to get a come-from behind, while being ahead of the entire game?

It'd be nice to have Orlando Cabrerra back.

Baker can't get past the 2nd time through the batting order.

Can't trade Cuddyer anymore, he's not worth anything.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

F it. Just leave Liriano out there to suffer.

No reason to waste our bullpen on a game we have already lost in the 1st inning.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Uhh, we're throwing Bonderman. This thing might be 5-4 in the 3rd inning.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

That 3-6 road trip hasn't made me very optimistic.

Plus, the beginning of July isn't any easier...

Tampa Bay
Toronto
Detroit
Chicago

The end is fairly friendly though.

Cleveland
Baltimore
Kansas City
Seattle
