Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

..."they just intentionally walked Mauer to get to Kubel. That's could be trouble."
Walking Mauer decreases the odds that they allow one run. However, it increases the odds that they give up multiple runs. Maybe Scioscia doesn't like his team's chances if they go down by more than a run, so that's how he chose to play it. Watching their offense last night, I can kind of see why.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Walking Mauer was the right play, the problem was he should of walked Kubel also to load the bases.

That is how you get the Twins out. Bases loaded at bats. :D

Hooray for Fox Saturday Baseball!
I get to see the Twins today. :)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Cuddy never touched home, if the catcher was paying attention it is only 2-0. As it is it is 3-0 which is a ok by me :D

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Seriously do the Twins have one starter besides Duensing who doesnt **** down their leg when handed a multi run lead. It is getting ridiculous!

Nice choke job Slowey. 4 runs to give away the lead

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Baker tonight and I'm in the 2nd row of the lower level right field bleachers.
Yep, I'm thinking what you're thinking, I should wear a helmet.

Span is an enigma.

boy, and I thought there would be no more enigmas when they traded away Gomez...

it's sad that this team has a 4 game lead; yet most of us Twins fans are on eggshells

Only problem is that the Twins seem to come up with a lot of clunkers when they are on a national broadcast -- like tonight, unfortunately.:(

Cuddy never touched home, if the catcher was paying attention it is only 2-0.
It looked like he dragged his toe across it, but the ump didn't catch it. In any case, I hope that isn't how the Twins' "system" is teaching players to cross home these days.

So, a normal day for you, right?

Pretty much. :D

Not on eggshells, it just amazes me just how bad Span can look sometimes trying to catch a fly ball. He has the ability to make some really nice plays then turn around (literally! :D) and look like a fool - see having the ball bounce off his glove yesterday.

I'll be ok in the Budweiser Party Deck... :D

Then again it is Baker...

While I agree with you, I think the one yesterday was a much tougher play than it seemed. It looked like the ball died to some extent and he'd overrun it, and then he had to fight the sun. It's hard to look graceful trying to catch a ball you can't see. A botched play, no doubt, but not as bad as some of those where he fails to do something fundamental like call for a ball.

Great...Slama was so great the last time he was up and one lefty in the bullpen(Perkins).
Did anybody have any confidence in Mahay, lefty or not? Mijares figures to become much more popular with Twins fans once we get to see what life is like without him in a stretch run.

I know, I know. It's just like wow, this team has a 4 game lead and yet none of us really feel like they do. It's like we're all waiting for them to just fail. Yet they have played some really good baseball lately.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Minus their starters ;)

Once again if the Sux ever could get their heads straight it would be a different story. As long as the Twins own them they own the division.
