When they had a pep band at the games years ago, they were pretty bad.
They sucked out loud, I now have another reason to go to a Maverick game.... no band..... awesome

As an alumnus of MSU,M and at one-point one of the biggest MSU,M on this site I have been quietly watching the program from afar for a few years now. Its even been about 3 years since my wife and I have crossed the threshold at The Cell (much to my disappointment as I sit here and reflect). My vantage point has been cast in a touch of....... a shade of gray lets say due to my allegiances as a past student but also as a relative of a former player I often was jaded by what this program has been. I suffered thru the entire Jutting saga, and as many of the senior members of this fan-base can recall I called for his head 9 years ago. So there I sat in my ivory tower some 90 miles to north lamenting what was going on to my beloved hockey program for nealry a decade.
Fast forward....... there. I'm good now.
We are just a matter of a few weeks into the new era of Maverick Hockey and I pause for the first time and smile. I admit, I still believe coach has a few years to get this program back where Don Brose had it, but to hear that that my school is finally stepping up to a decade of promises makes me smile.
Many of you know that I'm not a big fan of our AD (love his assistant tho), and I was always luke warm on President Davenport; and all though I find it sad that our President and not our AD had to do it, I am proud to tell my friends that my school has someone who is leading a charge in college hockey.
My wife and I aren't ready for the season tickets just yet, but it is our hope to continue to hear and see the continuation of these positive things. I hope that in the coming days, months and years, some of the past fans (and even old posters here) come out and show their support.
Go Mavs (and I'll get off my little soapbox)
(P.S. I still think stateofhockey needs a wedgie, he's a darn alum and he's gone completely to the darkside)
Holy smokes! You're alive!!! Glad to hear from you.
Things are changing for the better. It should be fun to see what Hastings and the staff can do!
It's early and they are learning a new system. They'll get better.
Definitely wasn't a problem last night, just couldn't finish at all last night. It'll be interesting to keep note of this.

Michael Russo was on with PA today and said he loved the atmosphere at Mankato on Saturday! I know it was against the gophers but people are noticing! Keep it up fans!
If we can keep on getting wins, the cell should start rocking with regularity! The band was there Saturday and actually much improved!
The new director is awesome. I played with him when I was there. He has won a few downbeat awards. (pretty big deal in the world of jazz)
Amazing baritone sax player.
Nice win over the rodents. Love it when arrogant rodent fans call your team the JV team or rodent rejects and you turn around and beat em. Good luck the rest of the way.
Get it right, it's Ju-nior Coll-ege and Go-pher Re-jects! And just cause they won, it doesn't keep mean they're not still Gopher Rejects!![]()
Very true. I've always been a Mavs fan for that very reason. One of my favorite series when they come to the Ralph to take on the Sioux. Always give an honest effort. And they take pride in the fact that they are Gopher rejects. Try work hard to try and prove collectively they're good hockey players.
It made a huge difference that they put the band up in the corner and then put mics by them to help the sound. Much, much improved. Except for the school song was twice as fast as I have ever heard it.If we can keep on getting wins, the cell should start rocking with regularity!
