Minnesota @ North Dakota 10/16/09

Re: Minnesota @ North Dakota 10/16/09

Start Patterson tomorrow. There's no sense in wasting Kangas in a series that's already lost.

Note to Lucia: if your players aren't willing to skate for you against an arch rival, perhaps it's time to consider stepping aside. This is the third year in a row of mediocre to bad play if this continues. That is simply unacceptable for a program such as Minnesota with all its recruiting advantages.

And there's 4-0.
3rd year???? This is the 6th year in a row the Gophers have shown long stretches of playing really soft and scared. There isn't a team in the country who should ever be afraid of Minnesota. I know it's taboo, but Lucia needs to start answering for this. If he can't get them motivated, I want him gone. I'll be interested to see what happens tomorrow.

Now there making them pay for this awful play. Feeling much better over here after those two goals.
After the first 5 minutes, MN hasn't generated any chances at all. UND never had anything to worry about.

As for this being the 6th year in a row of bad play, I'm looking at overall results not game to game inconsistency.

MN won the WCHA in '06 and '07, and they made the frozen four in '05. While those seasons had disappointing endings, you can't honestly compare any of those three teams to the last two editions (or the current one).

Union ties SCSU on SCSU's rink with the greatest goalie recruit of all time in the nets.

Go figure.

Union?
Horrible. SCSU, the rest of the WCHA thanks you for the help against an OOC opponent.

10min left.

And yet until these couple goals, they hadn't finished many many golden opportunities. Win or lose, not something you like to see.

Yeah, the beginning of the 1st period, UMN looked good. The first penalty that resulted in the UND goal really deflated them for some reason.

A series with the Gophers is like a weekend at the spa...you might not always win, but you sure as heck come away nice and healed up.
