Who knew that Champlin Park HS was so big?

It's the Park half that makes it so big. They get a pretty big slice of Brooklyn Park, which is the sixth largest city in the state. Though the city of Champlin is big enough that they would probably still be AA on their own.
And that is why Anoka Hennepin is the largest district in the state.Me, I guess. All of the Anoka-Hennepin schools are monsters. Anoka, Coon Rapids, and Blaine were even more so before Andover opened.

Interesting article on the fight between Major Junior programs and HS hockey programs in today's newspaper: http://www.startribune.com/sports/preps/193422541.html
I didn't know that BSM kicked a player off the team for having interest in a WHL team!
I thought the best part was that after the kid was cut from BSM, his "only option" was to sign with the WHL team. Yeah, ok...I'm sure the Austin Bruins or Coulee Region Chill would have loved to have the kid and if he did well there, the USHL would have come calling...but whatever.Which high school picked him up in the free agency pool?
I love this time of year. Lots of big games across the state tonight and next week is four AWESOME days.

Is he still too young to play for a NAHL/USHL team next year? Just seems like there were better options than signing with a WHL team at such a young age. What about BCHL? KIJHL? CJHL? I have no idea what the rules are for a kid his age but seems to me that BSM over-reacted and his parents did too. Also, if he had not signed, I'm sure there is a chance that publicity like this article might have gotten him a spot on BSM next year, obviously no guarantees but seems awfully rash to sign with Vancouver.By USA Hockey rules he's too young to play in the NAHL/USHL, unless he had a special dispensation from USA Hockey. I doubt he would have provided much value to any junior team either. He's a talented kid, but there's a big difference between a 15-year-old and a predominantly 20-year-old league like the NAHL. He also couldn't have played enough games for any team to keep his rights for next year, so there was really nothing in it for those teams.

Because that equal or better opportunity eliminates NCAA Hockey. Granted if he's a Minnesota kid visiting a WHL team, I doubt he had much interest in the NCAA route. He could have played in the USHL/NAHL next year, although no guarantees. Why take that gamble when you have an equal or better opportunity out there? If it was a rash decision, he would have signed with Vancouver right away. Instead he sat in the stands at Benilde for two weeks watching his (former) teammates play, and considering other options.
What about Shattuck-SM?Because that equal or better opportunity eliminates NCAA Hockey. Granted if he's a Minnesota kid visiting a WHL team, I doubt he had much interest in the NCAA route.
