Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

Not Minnesota hockey (Wisconsin), but hockey is likely heading to the chopping block in my hometown... Really sucks because even though I never played. I rarely missed a game and served as manager my senior year. It was a big influence on who I am today.

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

#1 Duluth East 4
#2 Maple Grove 1

Last night:

#3 Minnetonka 4
#4 Eagan 2

Barring an unforseen injury, Randolph is going to have to get seriously outcoached in an elimination game to not win it all this year.

Duluth East is in a league of their own this year. I think Minnetonka is the second best team in the state, and we saw how East handled them in the Schwan Cup final.

Excellent. I'll be rooting for East to win it all. Especially with the disappointment they had in the title game last year.

How does their Section look? Any potential roadblocks??

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

"Dad, I can't feel anything." Oh, God! Best wishes for what will be a changed life for Jack and his family. Let's pray he and they have the strength to carry on.

As a father the thought of hearing that breaks my heart. Not that your son can't possibly recover nor have a fulfilling life, but having your son look to you in that moment and feel so helpless. Prayers to that family.

Section 7AA has Andover, Cambridge, Cloquet, Duluth East, Elk River, Forest Lake, Grand Rapids, St. Francis and St. Michael-Albertville. The only 2 teams that may be problem are Elk River and Grand Rapids. Elk River is currently 13th and Grand Rapids 14th in the Lets Play Hockey rankings. Andover is also ranked, but I don't think they would be able to knock off East. I would guess it will be another Grand Rapids-Duluth East section final, and with what we've seen in the past, Grand Rapids may be able to pull off an upset, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Preview tomorrow night of that match-up in GR, although it is always a different game when it is playoff time. GR just lost to Hermantown, so am not expecting too much.

Despite being an A team, I would guess Hermantown would match up well with all but about 10 AA teams in the state, they're a pretty **** good team. There is talk of them going through undefeated now that they're past GR.

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

Bummer

The three outdoor high school games scheduled for Hockey Day Minnesota on Jan. 21 were moved indoors because of the unseasonably warm weather.

The games were supposed to be at Excelsior Bay on Lake Minnetonka, but instead will be played at the Pagel Activity Center in Minnetonka, the Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo announced today.

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

They had already moved them off the bay and onto the Excelsior Commons. Shame they couldn't even make that work.

For you fans of USA Hockey, they going to raise their dues $10.

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

So with the non-stop coverage of Jabs, I haven't heard anything about the girl who got injured in a check from behind. Is she recovering? Is that why? Was hers just not as serious but got attention because of Jabs, or is it the case of the media just grabbing on to one story and running?
