Ya they are ranking them as potential NHL goalies. Schierhorn needs to take a step next year as he was definitely good but not great. Jurusik was surrounded by garbage, so tough to gauge what he'll become. I could see them being about even statistically next year, and a separation occurring either way in their junior years.
The other day Mileski of KFAN fame said, the Men's National championship game didn't have better national tv ratings than the Women's National Championship replay game.
Hope that size helps Dubnyk and the Wild in an hour. God knows they need it. Haula is back so we've got that Nino-Haula-Pominville line (hopefully) going for us.Good point. The NHL has been trending towards size and strength in recent years. I think the avg NHL goalie today is about 6'2 with greatest % being 6'2+. Dubnyk is around 6'6, Kuemper/6'5, which allows goalies to play a bit deeper and see better over screens. Jurusik is 6'2. But a case could be made that goaltending is still a technical pursuit not entirely based upon height.
Bingo. The Badgers wouldn't have known proper defensive structure if it bit them in the ***. The defenders are the worst part on our team and if we go into next year with no significant upgrades I think we won't see much improvement outside of goal scoring: returning all forwards, likely Kunin stays, and Frederic/Zimmer coming in. It might take till Max Gildon gets to UW. FYI to gopher fans: I think Schierhorn is better but it's still hard to judge since the teams weren't on the same level. Reference: Jurusik played in 33 games (1,978 mins) and faced 1,055 shots and Schierhorn played in 37 games (2,144 mins) and faced 1,018 shots.Ya they are ranking them as potential NHL goalies. Zuhlsdorf will likely be more of an offensive threat.Nice to see the two U of M recruits each getting a goal in Team USA's 6-1 win over Sweden! Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring for the U.S. with a beautiful wrister, which I happened to see on KSTP's sport segment this evening. Then Ryan Lindgren scored the USA's third goal on a give-and-go passing play...might he lend the Gophers some offensive punch from the blue line?
Well it would be nice to have two!Zuhlsdorf will likely be more of an offensive threat.
If the two of them match Brodzinski and Seeler's 31 total points, that would be awesome. I'd expect about 25 total points between the two of them.
Offense from the D may be a real pain point.

Other Minnesotans who scored for the U.S. were Kieffer Bellows (Edina) and Joey Anderson (Roseville). With six players Minnesota is well represented on the team. Missouri and New York, with three players each, are tied for second.

I wouldn't assume Bischoff is the PP QB. I'd say Zuhlsdorf or Johnson if he steps up would be in the running.
You may be right, although Bischoff was chosen as QB over Johnson last year and is the only experienced Gopher QB on the team. My best guess is that Johnson will be on the inside track for QB #2...with Zuhlsdorf and Lindgren on the outside looking in for their first year. IMHO
I really like what I've seen of Lindgren so far in the Worlds. Solid defensively, and makes a lot of smart plays in all three zones. I'm anxious to see how he does against better competition than what the U.S. has faced so far.
