Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

How did you guys only get like 1.4 points out of Agnew last year
If Taylor Williamson hadn't come back and fed her the puck, I doubt we'd have even gotten that. This year, she'd be our 12th forward based on her career to date. She definitely needed a fresh start.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Watching tonight's game and seeing the difference in what SLU does with their forwards and defense vs what bc does, shows the difference in the amount of risk that bc takes. And it is not just once in awhile...It is pretty much all the time. That should benefit #29 as she does have good offensive skill...But not the best fit for the systems that Minnesota uses.

Playing loose and more loose doesn't do much for you in March. Please don't change BC.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Three points-related stats that I expect to be true after this series ...

1) Both Potomaks will be averaging at least a point per game for the season (neither is now);
2) Catie Skaja will have earned her first NCAA assist;
3) Olivia Knowles will no longer have zero points for the season.

People might think that I'm being disrespectful to SCSU, but the Huskies allowed 5 goals to RIT, hardly and offensive juggernaut, last weekend. Minnesota has also traditionally been a bad match up for them.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Nicole Schammel opened the scoring 1:19 in, and Taylor Heise added two more, the second coming on the power play, to make it 3-0 Gophers after one.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Gophers give up two to start the second period, then come back with three of their own to restore a three goal lead at 5-2.

I'm giving the production quality by FloHockey a D. The cameraman misses much of the action (whose got the puck, where is it?) and the announcer absolutely has no future in the business (BOR-ING!). How about trying to learn how to pronounce the players names before the game? POE-to-mak? ZOOM-winkle? Shum-ell? :rolleyes:

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

I am mildly surprised that nobody has mentioned the very classy goal celebration a couple of Husky fans performed when their team scored. Keeping down to the UND tradition of tossing dead animals on the ice on the ice. They looked a little dark & big to be gophers but the linesman was left to wrap them in a towel & dump the bodies. It surprised me they brought two and I wonder if they left with a couple still in their pockets

1) Both Potomaks will be averaging at least a point per game for the season (neither is now); Sarah (6 points in 6 games, yes. Amy (5 in 6, not quite)
2) Catie Skaja will have earned her first NCAA assist; (YES! On Minnesota's 4th and final goal in today's game, on Emily Oden's second goal of the game)
3) Olivia Knowles will no longer have zero points for the season. (YES! Assisted on the Gophers' first goal of yesterday's game, scored by Nicole Schammel)

Pretty good calls there, ARM. Looking forward to your predictions for the Ohio State series next weekend! ;)

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Hockey is a funny game. I thought that the first line looked out of sync on Friday, at least relative to the other five games. Their passing wasn't as crisp, and they didn't generate the kind of chances they have at other times. But, of course, they scored three goals.

Also, the Pots and Pan line could also be called the Tinker Line.

Wente/Heise/Williamson would be the Taylor line.

We just need some veterans and three Russians to complete the set.

Yeah, Sarah's shot hit the crossbar with ~ three minutes left or I'd have had it. However, I'd best not quit my day job. :o

...and a little drummer girl at center with a coach named Smiley to lead his people in our favorite game.

Would love to see a replay of the Gophers' first goal yesterday. The Potomak sisters put on a clinic on how to execute a 2 on 1, and it was a thing of beauty. :cool:
