What kind of fans are the kind who want to celebrate, AFTER A LOSS?????
Or would you have celebrated, NOT in front of your home fans, BEFORE the game though they STILL had not yet won the title OUTRIGHT, only to LOSE the game?!
I guess what I am saying is, who wants to have a big celebration after LOSING and letting other teams CATCH YOU, or before losing and letting other teams catch you?
Man, act like you've been there before. Who cares if you actually haven't been there before. Had you had the Cup, and celebrated with it AFTER your LOSS, what then? Season over? You go to the WCHA conf tourney and lose in first round? Because you accomplished all you could accomplish this season? Because its a glorious thing to back into a tie when you had a chance to win it outright?!
Please tell me you aren't that kind of fans?!
HAD YOU WON, someone from UMn would have had to drive away with that Cup to deliver it to SCSU, and not only would you have the satisfaction of having WON A GAME to OWN IT OUTRIGHT, you'd have the satisfaction of DENYING the Gophers their opportunity to celebrate. You could CELEBRATE THE WIN, AND THE TITLE the win helped you OWN OUTRIGHT, you could have celebrated all week how you denied the Gophers their celebration, AND THEN, you could have CELEBRATED AGAIN, in front of your fans, at the official presentation of the Cup.
But the fact that you wanted to DENY the Gophers their right to celebrate their WIN and their HOLDING ONTO WHAT WAS THEIRS already, shows a lack of class. We WON our game. You LOST. WE RETAINED the Cup, and HAD TO WIN to do it. Had we lost on Friday night, where do you think the Cup would have been Saturday night?! But we still had a chance to WIN IT WITH A WIN!!!!!
I'm sorry, I've read all the things people wrote and understand their reasonings as to why the Cup COULD HAVE been in Madison Saturday night, and I respect those reasons, but I disagree, VERY strongly.
Celebrations should be reserved FOR WINNING.
